After a bit of a sleep in, Brendan and I went shopping to get him a blender, and needless to say he got dragged around all the department stores on Oxford Street. We had a bit of an afternoon nap (yes, getting old) then gathered up all of Brendan’s stuff, and saw him off at Waterloo Train Station for his return to his new flat in Southampton. We arrived at Newquay about 1pm and drove out to Pentire Point East, where we went for a walk along the peninsula. The rugged rocks were making a white swirling mess of the clean waves coming in to shore. A some what similar notion appeared to be happening between the wind and my hair. We drove into the town centre for a walk around, and saw a sign for a backpackers on the other side of the bay. After managing to get Grant added to the driver’s list moments before the car hire place closed, we headed back to the 'Grand Shey Bu Hostel' and waited for Matt to arrive at Helen and Beth’s. We chucked everything in the car and headed towards the M3 motorway with the help of Grant’s fancy GPS navigational device, which proved to be very useful throughout the trip, even though it rendered me jobless. I got up early on Monday and cleaned my room. I spent most of the day shopping along Oxford Street while I waited to Brendan to arrive at the train station from Bangor, Wales. Turns out there were some signalling problems and his train was going to arrive a few hours late, so I carried on shopping :) Just as I got home I got a call from him to say that had already arrived! Finally the day I get to move into my very own flat has come! I am very much looking forward to living out of a wardrobe again rather than a suitcase! I had a rather over-due sleep in on Monday morning. I started packing up my things ready to move into my new flat today. After a rather eventful night, I finally made it to my bed for a snooze. Half an hour later, the others said they were about to leave to head back into Oktoberfest. I decided that if I didn’t go with them, I’d never find them. So I got up, quickly got ready and we caught the coach in to Oktoberfest at about 10am. We saw the horse and carts bringing more beer into the festival, which was very cool! Well firstly I have to say Oktoberfest was fantastic!! So much better than I thought it would be for a non-beer drinker like me! I got up early, quickly packed and caught the tube to Stamford Brook to met Suz and the boys plus Mel outside the tube station. Me and Mel grabbed some refreshments for the long journey ahead of us and then made our way to the Globetrotter Inn to get ourselves signed in. I got woken up early from a text from James to say that Cam and Arevik have got engaged! How exciting! - (hope that’s not still a secret guys!) I got an e-mail from my friend Paul who I haven’t seen since he left NZ, saying he is coming down from Middlesbrough this weekend and should catch up! But I’m going be in Germany! :( I e-mailed Topdeck and told them unfortunately I couldn’t find them a replacement for Brendan, and to refund me what they could. This week I finally realised how much money I DON’T have. The first half of Monday I drafted up a budget to work out just how much longer I could live on what I’ve got. The conclusion was: I’m allowed to spend ₤5 on food this week, and I’m going to need a job as soon as I get back from Germany. Hmmm. I also needed to sell Brendan’s ticket for Oktoberfest, as at the last minute he had to pull out and jump aboard a ship in Wales. I woke up early and went into the kitchen to start making Brendan’s birthday breakfast, but when I got the pancake mix out I noticed there was a hole in it. I was pretty sure I didn’t buy a packet with a hole in it. Helen came into the room and I showed her the packet and questioned if the holes looked more like teeth marks? Upon closer inspection, we found that mice had also eaten into my Dorito’s packet!
