Leo set an alarm for 9am, but after repetitive presses of the snooze button, it was 10.05 before we knew it. We jumped out of bed and quickly went out to the pool area for our “10am” meeting with the Med life rep, who told us about what there was to do within the area, Island and also day excursions etc. We booked a well recommended day trip on a boat to two nearby Islands, Paxos and Antipaxos, for tomorrow. We headed towards Lake Korission at the north end of the beach, mentioned in the meeting this morning. We stopped for [View Full Entry]

I had a bit of a sleep in and undertook the bulk of my packing for Greece. I had to try and jam all of it into a “small” backpack. Personally I think I did pretty well. Leo and I headed down to the Local Library at Balham to get some books out for our trip and stopped at Heidi’s work ‘The Clarence’ for a drink in the sun on the way back. We made some sandwiches for our flight and after a quick goodbye to Suz, we ran down to Clapham South Tube Station and caught a tube to Victoria [View Full Entry]

Hanging at Hyde Park
This week has been quite busy, although I haven’t really been doing all that much! I got a call from Leah on Monday - We were so excited to talk to each other, I got to tell her all about London and everything that has been happening over here. Its nice to be able to hear a familiar voice from home! On Tuesday I meet my dancing partner from NZ, Chris, who was in London for a few days. We went to Hyde Park and I showed him around a few things, such as The Serpentine and Princess Dianna Memorial Fountain. [View Full Entry]

Suz came in to my room at 6.30am telling me to get up - we both felt like crap after only 3 hours sleep. Apparently, Suz’s alarm went off and she thought it was Monday, got up and got dressed for work - haha! We chucked a few things in a bag and jumped in the car. We tried to get out of London, it took us 40 minutes to get over the River Thames (which should have taken 10!) We found ourselves driving around random suburbs with building that were falling down, etc. Suz just happened to randomly look back [View Full Entry]

NZ forever!
I had a bit of a sleep in to make up for a few busy days. About 5 minutes after waking up, I got phone call from James to catch up on all the goss back in NZ. I spent the next few days chilling out and catching up on stuff around home, such as washing, writing in my journal and browsing my Lonely Plant guide for my next excursion around Eruope. I decided to investigate the shops in the next suburb, Balham, an easy 10 minute walk down the road from our flat. I got some basics such as coat [View Full Entry]

Bigger than you think!
I had a nice little sleep in until 10.30am before undertaking my morning ritual of breakfast and checking e-mails. I got an unexpected call from Brendan saying he was coming back to London this afternoon as they need him board the ship in Shoreham-by-sea tomorrow. I meet Leo at London Bridge Station at about 2.30pm. The station is a lot bigger that I had envisioned, at it took me awhile to actually find him, even with cellphone communication! We walked all the way to the London Eye from the London Bridge Station, which it a lot further than we realised. We [View Full Entry]

Following quite a few full on days, Brendan and I decided to have a relaxing day at home. A friend of Suz’s, Rich came over and we decided to go to the local park “Clapham Common” with bottle of wine and some crisps and hang out in the sun. After taking advantage of free internet connection that Suz’s work kindly provides, Brendan and I decide to have a reasonably early night, while she went off to a wedding. Brendan spent the following morning packing to go up to his Aunty’s for 5 days. We went to the train station at Kings [View Full Entry]

I had set a date with the bank to get my debit card (like an eftpos card) and accounts sorted out, which meant Brendan and I had to get up at a reasonable time to get into Oxford Street by 10.30am. However, this time we had to battle with the tubes by ourselves! We made it just time - or should I say, we were only a few minutes late. I had my meeting at HSBC and was bombarded with all sorts of information. After a good half an hour, I think I was just happy to have something that resembled [View Full Entry]

Suz had taken the day off work, I mean was “working from home”, so we decided have pancakes for breakfast. The three of us trundled down to the local supermarket, Tescso’s. We grab some food to start us off for the week and were introduced to the ‘self service’ checkout! Brendan and Suz cooked up a storm of pancakes, bacon, banana’s and maple syrup. What a treat! We went down to the local tube station, Clapham South only a few minutes walk away and had a quick lesson on how to use the tube pass ticket machine (₤5 for a 1-2 [View Full Entry]

We boarded our plane with at least twice the amount of permitted carry on luggage. However, the flight was strangely empty so this didn’t seem to pose too much of a problem. We found ourselves at the back of the plane, with people only sitting in every second row and no one in the middle, which suggested this would be a reasonably comfortable flight. We managed to acquire the majority of the pillows from the back half of the plane, but even with a row to ourselves, it seemed impossible to get comfortable. We finally landed about 8.30pm local time, collected [View Full Entry]
