Hi there!

Thanks for checking how I'm getting along....

I'm off to Australia for two months at the end of November with my best mate Charlene. We plan to fly into Melbourne, travel the great ocean road to Adelaide, on to Alice springs and Aluru, on to Cairns to get PADI qualified and throw ourselves out of a plane (with parachutes!) and then take in the sights of the East coast all the way back to mebourne then home!

Hi All! Here's the latest update; Our diving experience was brilliant! very tiring but absolutlely brilliant! From the moment we began, the training and diving was constant, the reef was beautiful and we'd love to do it all again. We don't have that many under water pictures as mastering an underwater digital camera is not the easiest thing in the world but hopefully the disposable camera's have been reliable enough, we'll have to wait and see. It truely is another world actually diving the reef, we saw turtles, giant clams sea cucumbers and reef sharks, the sharks were pretty impressive at two metres long!! The night dive was strange but well worth the nerves! We spent Christmas at Airlie beach and had a well earned rest after all the diving! Christmas day was lovely, went swimming ... read more

Alice Springs is a tiny little town in the middle of the out-back, the locals were 'interesting' and we witnessed lots drama's in the street! The day after we arrived we were off on a three day red centre safari which we kicked off with a camel ride, those things run fast believe me!! We hiked through the valley of the winds at Kata Tjuta which was more like rock climbing in places and watched the sun set over Uluru. We were supposed to be sleeping in swags under the stars but after dinner the rain poured and a huge electrical storm began! Needless to say we opted for the tents very quickly!! The following day we walked the base of Uluru after the sunrise (lots of early mornings on this trip!!) and made our way ... read more

Hi All! Just a quick one as we've got washing and packing to do in prep for flying to Alice Springs tomorrow! Ok Adelaide is not as busy as Melbourne but has lots to do. Glenelg beach was lovely, we spent yesterday afternoon and evening there, we were only supposed to spend the afternoon but ended up staying for the sunset (and a few chardonnays - all in prep for the Barossa Valley wine tasting tour of course!). It was pretty windy on the beach and because of this it was actally warmer in the sea! The Barossa valley tour was a real day to remember, we called in on four wineries the first being Jacobs Creek! I was so pleased as Jacobs Creek is one of my favorite wine makers! We have tasted A LOT ... read more

Hello All! Thanks for checking on our progress. We're having a fantastic time, have completed the first section of our trip and are currently in Adelaide. Melbourne was all we thought it would be, a buzzing city where trams are the easiest way to get around and the coffee is fab. Victoria market was the place to pick up everything from lovely fresh fruit and veggies to opals, the market is actually built on an old cemetary and underneath there are approximately 9'000 graves, sorry! had to let you know the facts! Melbourne zoo is the oldest zoo in Australia and we spent almost an entire day there, could walk in with the roo's and koala's so enjoyed that very much. The platypus was interesting but the main event of the day was when we visited ... read more

The time is ticking away and it's almost the 25th of November, I've bought far too many clothes (but really enjoyed the shopping!), arranged everything I need to (hopefully!) and said goodbyes on Saturday with a pretty damn decent night out (which resulted in a two day hang over!) - destination, AUSTRALIA!... read more
