Lopburi didn't have much going on. It was pretty mellow with few food options and a few good sites, but we had one of the most memorable experiences with Lopburi's local mafia of gangsta ass monkeys!... read more

Asia » Thailand » South-West Thailand » Ko Pha-Ngan August 23rd 2009

We felt bad, but we had to tell the guest house we were moving a night early cause of the noise. We scored a nice guest house down the way with AC, but the power went out most of the night and we had bed bugs...yes! We were debating whether or not we should spend the money to go to Koh Tao, but at this point we were kind of over the islands...tired of being haggled to buy shit and not getting a refreshing swim in.... read more

Asia » Thailand » South-West Thailand » Ko Pha-Ngan August 22nd 2009

On our way out of Koh Samui, Megan informs me that ear infection seems to be still around so I went to a pharmacy where the pharmicist spoke good English and was very informative. He gave us different medicine and Megan can't drink for another 5 days...lol! We caught a truck to the pier, caught a fairy to Koh Pha-Ngan...we wanted to leave Hat Rin ASAP (cause it wasn't our style) and we hit up Hay Yao (after doing a good bit of haggling just to get a ride there). We scored a nice bungalow right on the beach and we were stoked! THE CATCH...at 3am they were playing loud ass club music for like 3 people. The party sounded like it was in our room and the music was the worst.... read more

Asia » Thailand » South-West Thailand » Ko Samui August 20th 2009

Today we decided to finally go check out some of these beaches we've been hearing about so it was a long ass day of travel. THIS IS ALL IN ONE DAY! We woke up early, checked out and caught a Tuk-Tuk to the airport, got on a shuttle to our plane, took the plane to Bangkok, took a shuttle to the gate, took a shuttle to the airplane, took the airplane to Surat Thani, took shuttle to the airport, took a bus to the fairy ports, took the fairy to Koh Samui (I start to feel a tender in the stomach), took a pick-up truck (I start breaking out in cold sweats and fighting the urge to vomit)...we get off and start walking around for a place to stay. So we find a place to stay ... read more

Asia » Thailand » North-West Thailand » Chiang Mai August 17th 2009

After like a 14 hour train ride, we arrived to Chang Mai. The train was comfortable and I slept well, but Megan really couldn't cause her ear was hurting her and I guess it was too bright on the top bunk. However, it was cool to wake up riding through the jungles, mountains, and rice fields. We found a guest house upon arrival and after using the internet and screwing around it started raining really hard so I went swimming. At night we went to this big street festival they have every sunday night, which was pretty cool! Day two in Chang Mai, we did some walking around...checked out some temples and such. Their is a buttload of really good vegetarian eateries here so we have been enjoying our food for sure...apparently there is a sect ... read more

Asia » Thailand » Western Thailand » Kanchanaburi August 15th 2009

We woke up early to buy tickets for an overnight sleeper train to Chang Mai for that night. Next, we headed to the bus station to catch a bus going to Erawan Falls, which is a 7-tiered waterfall about 70 km north of our current location. Sitting on the bus, we were told we'd be leaving soon, about 10-15mins, instead we patiently sweated our asses off for well over 30 mins...it was pretty damn hot. We arrived at the base of the first waterfall and it was beautiful. We jumped in and the water was perfect. I was joking to my girlfriend Megan about piranhas and snakes being in the water. She was definitely not amused. A little time goes by swimming before I felt something nibble my leg and immediately freaked out. At almost the ... read more

Asia » Thailand » Western Thailand » Kanchanaburi August 14th 2009

Onward we go to Kanchanaburi on a 2 hour bus ride from Bangkok! We scored an A-frame bungalow right on the river for only like $20. The town itself it pretty chill and people seem to be nicer and not as shady. We saw the famous Bridge over River Kwae known from the WW2 era. There also is a place to pet tigers and have your picture taken, Tiger Temple, but there are many reports that, even thought it's a ""conservatory", they abuse and exploit the animals so we didn't want to support that... We also had some amazing food here. ... read more

Asia August 13th 2009

Ok, we hopped on a commuter boat to go down the river to the populer temples we wanted to see, por ejemplo, Wat Pho featuring "The Reclining Buddha" and The Grand Palace. Throughout the day we kept getting kind of dizzy and nauseas...I couldn't figure out if it was the thick heat and humidity or the amount of deet (mosquito repellent) I was putting on my skin or just the air. We both got back to our hotel and took a nap. We went out again to Khao San Road and had some food and some drinks...later we played twister with the staff at our guest house, jk!... read more

Asia August 12th 2009

Okay, so we made it to the land of THAI! The flight was way more roomier and the staff was way nicer. Due to our "vegetarian" status, we get fed first and the food is way better...score! Anyways, we didn't have to worry about lost luggage on the new flight cause we didn't check any fool. So we scored a taxi from the airport to our hotel (guest house), which allowed us to become familiar with the crafty driving of the Thai's...basically, your best off not even looking up or you'll have an anxiety attack. Take the maniacal driving of Tijuana and add the people and urgency of NYC. Also, we were stuck in traffic for at least an hour to go probably like 1 mile. We get out of the taxi to get a nice ... read more

Asia » Japan » Tokyo August 11th 2009

Ok, so this is a delayed entry, but we arrived to LAX in a timely manner, but only to see a 4 hour delay! We were told that because of the bad weather around Hawaii, our plane got struck by lightening...apparently this happens all the time...I assured Megan of this. The flight was long and Megan decided to spill her entire green tea on my lap, but other than that, we were good. Ok, so we arrived in Tokyo-Narrita airport! We didn't even have to put up a stink about the delayed flight because the Japanese had their shit together and as always, were SUPER nice! They hook us up with a nice hotel, dinner, and breakfast....also Megan and I searched out a bar at the top of the hotel, of course. Dinner had fries with ... read more
