After a brief but adventurous tour of Laos, we have returned to the future. Thailand. It is the year 2551 here in Thailand and we have just returned from a 3 day, 2 night stay in the jungle. It was or will be, depending on where and when you are, an experience. Before we talk about the jungle we should share with you our experiences in Laos. It was the year 2008, Giles and I had taken the express time machine train from Bangkok station to the Thai/Laos border town where we took a step back in time via customs. We [View Full Entry]

Hey all, We realize that it has been a while since our last entry, but we have been so busy bumbing around on the beach and eating Thai Pancakes. Since our last vistit of almost two years ago Giles and I have returned to Ko Phi Phi. We are here with Giles brother Warren and company. There are 8 of us now and we all seem to get along well. They really are a fantastic crew. I don't think I've stopped laughing since last Thursday. Our trip in Thailand has been more relaxing than in the other countries we have visited. [View Full Entry]

So, here we have been for the last -- Hmmmmmm -- week? Time has been lost. We are in Cambodia. It rocks -- so far. We took a break from the big city and decided to go down to a smaller one on the Southern coast. Our friends own a hotel called the New Sea View Villa. We have been staying there and it is really beautiful. They bought it from the previous owner and proceded to turn it into something special. The rooms are nicely decorated and they cook the most amazing food in their restaurant. The Cambodian people are [View Full Entry]

We are slowly winding down our time in Vietnam. We decided to skip Nha Trang in favour of more time in Mui ne. Mui ne is a nice, if somewhat resorty, 13km stretch of beach in Southern Vietnam. We had a nice little piece of beach about 20 steps from our hotel door. The major sights in the area are the Fairy stream, White sand dunes, Red sand dunes, Red Canyon and fishing village. The Fairy stream was great. It's a small stream about two meters wide and about 2 to 3 inches deep. We took a leisurely walk along the [View Full Entry]

So often, people have mentioned how travelling can be difficult. We didn't really realize it until now. Since we have been travelling we have been confronted by: "Halloooo... Do you want some fruit? Do you need a motor bike? Do you want boat tour? Oh come on just one hour. You can go to the beach. Hey lady! You want to buy some dress? Very nice I fit for you." And we respond: "No, thank you." We have said that phrase so often that we have started to use it regularly and out of context. Like for instance: "I'll have a [View Full Entry]

It is difficult to keep this up to date as Giles and I are traveling quickly and don't often have time. Now we are in a completely different part of Vietnam. We are in Hue (There should be an accent over the e). We arrived this morning after a gruelling fourteen hour over-night bus ride. Giles and I decided to save money and take the soft seated bus rather than the sleeper. It was really worth it. Please note the sarcasm. I don't think either of us slept a wink because of the confined space and the Vietnamese version of a [View Full Entry]

After an "experience" shopping with Mia, Phil and Li, then another "experience" on a night out, we said our goodbyes to China. First we would like to have a quick 60 minutes of silence to remember the comfortable bed, the warm shower, the friendly smiles, and the variety of fantastic experiences that Mia, Phil, and Li introduced us to. We miss you cutie pies and can't wait to be able to show you the same hospitality when you make your way to the flat, cold, uneventful prairies of Saskatchewan. O.k., that's not completely true. We have a bar. It's Irish. After [View Full Entry]

So, here we are once again back in Shanghai. We had an amazing time seeing the Terra-Cotta warriors in Xi'an, China. We were in Xi'an on Monday. It turned out that we got a really good deal on plane tickets so we were really happy. The only downfall was that Giles and I both came down with a cold/flu the day before we left. We were lucky, though, because it only really affected us on Monday and didn't get in the way of any fun. We spent Monday evening looking through the market and angering the locals with our skillful bargaining. [View Full Entry]

For those of you who have not been able to have the experience of taking a 10 hour over-night train ride, let me tell you. It's quite the experience. Our adventure started as we were dropped off at the train station by our speedy taxi driver. I would like you to make a note at this point and mention that the words speedy and safe are not used in the same sentence when referring to a taxi driver. Giles and I boarded the train leaving Shanghai on route to Huang Shan, China. We were told by our Chinese friend Mia that [View Full Entry]

Hello All, Well, we finally made it to Shanghai!! Here we are! Yup... As we stepped off the airplane onto this new land, we thought to ourselves: "Hmmmm, it looks baren. We must civilize!" After a quick nap on the bus, we were soon to realize that this place was, in fact , quite modern. It wasn't made up of naked people and caves like we had first thought. Actually, Shanghai is quite modern and very clean. We are staying in an amaizing apartment that puts our apartment in Korea to shame. We are living with Phil (from Newzealand), his girlfriend [View Full Entry]
