Right, you've had enough opportunity to previously unsubscribe so you might as well read what is most definitely the last entry. With our travels an almost forgotten dim and distant memory coupled with the way we've just slotted back into society so seamlessly living in the same town and going back to the same old jobs, I feel like I'm pining for the fjords (of which we saw many) and thus need to reminisce and review just to convince myself that we really did go round the world for the full 365 days. Making good use of my last few days of leisure before I have to start the evils of working for a living for the next 100 years until retirement at 132, or whatever Gordon Brown decides by then, I've been going through all ... read more

We expect that some of you will have figured out by now that we are back safe and sound (and cold) in dear old Blighty. It has taken us over a week to recover from the shock, hence the tardiness of this, our final destination blog entry (you may be very lucky and get one last summary from Wotton/Llandudno)! We are actually getting a taste of our own medicine with this entry, as it is making us as sick to write it as you fellas must have been to read all year. Our zen-like travel calm is fading as fast as our tans and reality has well and truly kicked in. I reckon this entry should be called paradise lost, as the likelihood of us ever going anywhere as idyllic as the islands we visited in ... read more

Congratulations Hello first off congratulations to Mr and Mrs Gorman, who were featured way back in our Northern Territory Australian entry, who are having what appears to be a little honeymoon baby. The world could do with a few more Gorms! Secondly congratulations to Scooby dog with her puppies I expect carnage in The Hope and Anchor now! Right, we've got serious blog lag and meant to do this weeks ago but got "stranded" on a deserted tropical beach, all of which will become apparent in the next installment. Cruising Down the Yangtze River Anyhooo, China - after some intense sightseeing of a plethora of dynastic sights of Beijing, Xian etc. we embarked on our 3-day cruise down the Yangtze river. After our less salubrious cruises on the Mekong and in Halong Bay, we were ... read more

Hello all and welcome to one of our last (sob!) blog entries! The counter shows how long until we face the dark, cold winter of Blighty. Must say I (Becky) am looking forward to it as the cups of proper tea, Eastenders, fish and chips, roast dinners and cider will more than make up for it! So, China then... As you may have gathered, we left Vietnam with a bit of relief and arrived in Beijing, ready for our China odyssey. As China is such as massive country and we have done so much in such a short space of time, we've spilt this country's spawnblog into two; the ancient Central China dynastic cities of Kaifeng, Zhengzhou, Luoyang and Xian, along with the current capital Beijing, which as well as being home to more recent ... read more

So we have finished our tour in 'Nam, did some patrolling, sniping, infiltration of native population and recon of key sites. Although we didn't know exactly what to expect of Vietnam, mostly we'd heard good things, so we were looking forward to our tour of duty. It was pretty good but - and we suppose it had to happen after 10 months of travelling - we came away a little underwhelmed. Feels like we had similar and better experiences elsewhere in SE Asia. the weather played a big factor in our enjoyement and it seemd to rain more than not - even though the Lonely Planet AKA The Book of Lies told us we should be fine sticking to certain places. Perhaps we got off on the wrong foot, and, as they say, first impressions last ... read more

Rick: These hornlogs are coming thick and fast at mo. So thought I'd give the long winded blog slog a go this time instead of Becky, I think there is something for everyone in here (and maybe a little offensive to some) so......... We only spent about a week in Laos but was enough to get a feel for the place as we travelled right across hilly North Laos. Its a really lush (literally very green) relaxed country making me cast my mind back those long 10 months ago when we started travelling in South America in places like Equador, Peru and Bolivia. Also maybe a bit like Thailand was 20 years ago, before the onslaught of Westerners like me! We had very, very, long, slow winding boat and bus journeys giving a amazing insight into ... read more

Ricardo Fergosso Galbrini says: Ciao. What are you lot still doing here? You must be bored if you still keep coming back for more of what basically is a long extended holiday slide show!! Anyway here's a brief glimpse we've been doing. 1. Meeting up with family and friends which was really lush. 2. Frolicing, bumming (not literally!) and mooning (full!) on beaches with the aid of Big Changs 3. Laughing in the face (well from a safe distance) of deadly snakes and tigers. 4. Learning to cook thai food. 5. Celebrating my native Italia winning the World Cup!!!! Lets have a look at the photographic evidence! We are leaving North Thailand now for Laos. Arrivederche. Ricardo PS Thaks for all your coments on previous journal as it is called here! We love getting them and ... read more

This is just a short one (full Thailand one to come soon you lucky people) as we did a little side trip to Cambodia with Beckys sis and Benny boy to the largest religious monument and highest concentration of temples (I may have made this bit up) in the world. The Temples of Angkor. Basically there were hundreds of amazing huge temples all round the place, built by the Khymer from 8th Century AD for Buddist, Hindu and local gods. Which they somehow "lost" for a few hundred years and then found again. I think they were behind the sofa but its always where you look last - but then thats because you stop looking after that. Anyway they were so impressive - especially some of the really atmospheric temples which are left in their unrepaired ... read more

Rick says: Right hello everyone and welcome to another fascinating log of the web variety. We've had an amazing time in Malaysia (and Singapore) since leaving Oz and done sooo much and all in less than a month!! There is a huuuugee amount of photos for you to trawl through if you wish, but please do as I just couldnt stop adding more and more pics to this good damn thing! In a nutshell: Singapore - 4 days, clean (apart from Little India where we stayed!), fairly cheap, hot & humid, skyscrapers, colonial, they all spoke English, Tescos and M&S!. So a nice easy introduction to Asia. Malaysia - There for just under a month and on a whim decided to fly to Malasian Borneo, Sabah. And what a great decision it was cos it was ... read more

Rick says What a joke! Typical. Bloody typical of those thieving bin dipping scally scouser buggers robbing the FA cup from the Hammers' grasp. Blooming Stevie Gerrard scoring two amazing goals. If he does that in the World Cup final against Germany then I may, just may, forgive him for previous crimes against West Ham lack of silverware. We watched it in Alice Springs with Gorm (another west country bumpkin) and Kate his wir-bird fiancee. I was very dejected and hoarse afterwards but proud. So anyway who cares about football when we are travelling on the other side of the world (well me). Northern Territory (along with Queensland) was the Australia I always had in my mind before I went. Real remote outback stuff and nothing for miles around, weird unique creatures and Great Barrier Reef/Whitsundays ... read more
