Consider yourself warned! Now before I went to Rio so many people told me of the horror stories awaiting me in Rio. I heard everyone there is looking to pick off tourists. I heard life is cheap. I heard hard drugs are everywhere accompanied by corrupt policemen. I heard the women are only gold diggers. I was warned not to wear flashy clothes, not to speak english in public or on public transport, not to be loud, not to draw attention to yourself, not to walk slowly, not to bring out alot of cash, under no circumstances was I to whip out my laptop or camera. Lads, I apologize for the belated blog post, the webmasters of the blog site even sent me an email asking if I’m still traveling, but this experience has been too rich to steal an hour or two for writing each day. I scratch notes if I’m lucky. In Brazil, I’ve caught myself on the verge of tears just thinking of what awesome friends I’m lucky enough to have (DC/NC/Br you know who I’m talking about (Ed in case you’re wondering you’re out)), what beauty there is to behold in life, and the human struggle that links us all no matter what country, language, religion, culture, or color. In preparation for the "boat ride", as I joke with my jocular self sometimes(I like to refer to my trip as a boat ride because I am so jocose), hold on - my white silk scarf is caressing my bare neck and I have to swizzle the ice in my scotch - now that's better the ice cubes aren't standing atop one another anymore. This trip is about what I learn in my life in this period of discovery. I remember things better if I write them. Hence, this blog.
