Still in Vero Beach at the mooring rafted up with two boats. Nice people. May stay a few days longer. People cal this Velcro Beach because it is so boater friendly that they get here and stay longer than they thought they would. Met my friends yesterday and had a great Thanksgiving meal at their house. I ate so much I am still hurting. Chris made some great food and it was hard to not try everything at least twice. Left the anchorage before light and ran with the chartplotter trying to beat any storms. Ended up no storms but I got to Vero about 10:00. Rafted up with a couple from NC. Caught the bus into town and picked up Vodka and OJ. The good stuff with mango mixed in it to make screw drivers. Paid through Fri night. It is $15 per night. That includes dinghy dock, showers, lounge and access to the laundry room. The busline is free here and you can ride all over the city and the bus stops at the marina every hour. Left Titusville at 7:00. Got to an anchorage about four hours north of Vero Beach about 2:00. Great anchor. Pretty exposed though. If a thunder storm comes up tonight I may get a little adrenaline pump. I'm anchored between two litle islands. A few people drove wave runners up to oneofthemand started wading in the water. I put my foot in the water and it is probably warm enough to get in. I started to get my mask and take a look at the bottom of the boat but the current seemed to be a little too strong. Last night in Daytona unless the weather does not cooperate. I am stealing electricity tonight because we only paid for one night. Hope I don't get caught. Nothing new. Took Doug to the airport this morning and now I am solo again. Who's coming to ride with Don now? May go meet some friends that have a timeshare. Picked up the rental car today. Got loaded up with supplies. MOney MOney MOre MOney. Changed the oil, washed the boat. Took the car and went to the ocean which is over a bridge. I never lost nothing in Daytona Beach. I thought it was a hot place to be because it used to be the place to go for spring break, but ther is nothing there. Left St Augustine at 7:00 and got to Daytona about 2:30. Nice day. Bill, Doug's friend rode with us. We had to take him to the marina so his wife could pick him up so decided to stay an extra night. I'll be here until Sun morning. After much cussing and elevated blood pressure I got the file from Garmin to upload to an SD card. Now I am trying to load it on my chart plotter. Sitting in the marina lounge washing clothes and computering. I downloaded the update file for my chart plotter. Hopefully it will work in cloudy weather now. I still have to download it into my plotter so ther may be some cussing involved. We are going to stay at anchor tonight and leave for Daytona tomorrow morning early. One of my brother's friends may join us for the ride down. His wife is bringing him later today. Decided to stay at Fernandina Beach another day. Rentedbikes and rode to the beach and also to a Civil War fort called Fort Clinch. WE went off the road for a while and rode through the woods. Signs said be careful of the aligators but we did not see any. Had the bikes for four hours and brought them back 10 min late. No extra charge. Had a few beers in town and now getting ready to take off early to head toward St Augustine. Hope to be ther on Tuesday. Then on to Daytona. [View Full Entry]
