Days 106-108 We got a lift down to the station headed for Brisbane. We arrived at the hostel after walking the very long way round then went to check out the city. Popped into a couple of travel agents to try and book things further up the coast but just got confused with the millions of options and went back to the hostel with a headache! Days 104 & 105 Jumped aboard the Greyhounded and jumped off again at Surfers Paradise. After being dropped at the hostel we headed straight to the beach and chilled out. Went to an exclusive restaurant called McDonalds for tea then walked around town. It's a really weird place - so different from the rest of Oz as it has the longest beach ever with a backdrop of loads of sky scrapers. Days 101-103 We hung around the hostel until 1 then were were dropped off at the bus station where we boarded the Greyhound headed for Byron Bay. Arrived about 8.30, were picked up and taken to the hostel. Had dinner, checked out the town and sat by the beach for a bit. We were tired from the travelling so had an early night. Woke up to a gorgous day, went to the supermarket and popped into a couple of shops then headed to the beach. The beach was gorgeous and the waves were pretty powerful. Days 99 & 100 We checked out and dropped some chocolate we bought in the Hunter Valley off at the laundrette as a thank you to Ken and Wanda. We caught the bus to Port Macquarie where we were picked up and taken to the hostel. It was a really friendly cute little hostel and really nice and clean. We dropped our bags in our room and walked to the Koala Hospital about 2km away. We got there in time for the feeding and guided tour. It was a really sweet place with about 10 koalas there. Days 95-98 We chilled out in the park before catching our bus to Newcastle! No, not that Newcastle! It was just a 3 hour bus ride, we got picked up and dropped off at the hostel. Our room was gorgeous, we had a little house of our own to share with 3 other rooms. It was so nice. We then took advantage of a free backpacker meal at one of the bars where we also got bargainous drinks. It was a fun night with a pub quiz and live music. And all for just pennies! Day 94 Checked out and got a lift to the wharf then boarded the ferry back to Syndey. Caught the underground, walked a bit then checked into our hostel. Went for a mooch around yet more shops but were knackered so just chilled out at the hostel. Had dinner and that was about it! [View Full Entry]

We swapped rooms in the morning to a double and headed to the beach. It was really windy and the sand flying everywhere was annoying so we gave up and went back to the hostel. We sat on the grass by the beach for a while but then it got a bit cold so we went to the supermarket and bought our dinner. We went to a card shop to buy our valentines cards for tomorrow (how romantic!!) and went back to the hostel. Days 90 & 91 Another early start, we walked up to our pick up and clambered aboard the bus at 7.20. The Blue Mountains are about an hr and a half from Sydney and our first stop was to see some Kangaroos. We took some piccies and then jumped back on the bus and were driven to another part to do an eco walk. The walk lasted 3 hours through rainforest and we saw some lizards but luckily no snakes!! Days 88-89 We were woken early doors for breakfast and then jumped aboard the mini bus looking for a beach with good waves. We checked out a couple but the waves were really messy so we ended up at a gorgeous deserted beach called Lighthouse Bay. We had to carry our 9 ft surf boards about half a mile to the beach which was not fun especially when Carly and her new friend got lost and added loads more distance onto the journey!! Days 84-87 Today we headed to Bondi (a 30 minute bus ride from central Sydney) to chill out on the beach for a bit. We checked into the hostel which was a bit rubbish so looked for a different one to book for the next couple of nights. The sun then decided to come out so we spent the afternoon sunning ourselves on the beach. We got showered up and then had fish and chips by the beach.
