Di Lou - Di Wood & Louise Kingston

Di Wood & Louise Kingston Tell us a bit about yourself... this information will appear on your page.We two friends (mum & daughter) are off to Canada (Aug 3rd) on the holiday of a lifetime. The main theme is to commemorate PO Geoffrey Clegg (Lou's great uncle) who did his RAF flying training in Canada 1942/3. He died aged 19 in a plane which went down accidentally over the South Atlantic Jan 1943.Whilst dashing from Montreal to Vancouver Island and interwoven with visits of sentimental value, we hope to have fun, eat good food, be enthralled by wonderful scenery & people, maybe the odd bear & moose, and have 100s of photos to detain everyone with when we get back!

Someone told us you didn't need a coat - you did!!!!!!
Hi! As Mum has done her back home update, now it's my turn. Wow..... what an amazing time and the memories will last for ever (if not I have around 900 photos to remind me!!!) Canada is definitely a place I would love to visit again but spending a bit longer in the places I liked most - living out of a suitcase is not ideal (will probably sound quite bizarre to any back packers who read this!!) Hard to pick favourites as each place we went to was very different. I'd like to spend more time in all the places [View Full Entry]

A very important part of the holiday, and the colour is gorgeous!!
Hi Everyone. Some of you will know we are now safely home and Lou has unfortunately had to return to work. Di (currently writing) has been able to adjust a little more gently, though the mind is still very much reliving some of the memorable moments we spent across the Atlantic, whilst the body is still functioning on Vancouver time!! The blog was expertly typed up by Lou whilst we were in Canada, as her typing speed is much the superior and her camera provided all the great "stills", whilst Di was the movie expert, and has 6hrs of tape should [View Full Entry]

(Once again, apologies for the lack of photos! This internet cafe hasn't got access to plug in the camera!) Friday we spent a fab day cycling around Stanley Park in Vancouver and we even managed to have our first relax of the holiday on the beach. This was topped off with a very quick dip in the Pacific Ocean! The following morning the coach picked us up for our trip to Vancouver Island via the BC Ferry. After a smooth crossing during which we saw more bald eagles and a few seals, we arrived at the bus station in Victoria. We [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone We've had problems accessing the internet as been so busy doing exciting things!!!! (Where we are today we cant add photos as they are charging $5 for 15 mins so will do the best of them in an entry when we can.) We left Red Deer and drove to Banff via the Columbia Icefields - what can we say apart from the fact that the scenery was absolutely stunning and we only hope that the photos we took can do it justice. In Banff we took part in White Water Rafting, took the Gondola to the top of the [View Full Entry]

We flew from Montreal to Calgary on Thurs 10th August and awoke at 5.30am to the news of the arrests in the UK of terrorist suspects. Even though we were flying internally it still sent a chill down your spine. We arrived at the airport expecting to have all lipsticks, hair gels etc taken from us (a woman's worst nightmare!) but only had to get rid of bottles of SOFT (!!) drink we were carrying. After 4 hours in the air we touched down at Calagary Airport and went to pick up our new hire car, a lovely grey ford focus [View Full Entry]

Mon 6th Aug 2006 Hi everyone, thanks to those of you who have left messages, it was great to hear from you. We left Toronto at about 10.45am yesterday wth Di driving to go to Ottawa in our lovely blue HHR Chevvy We travelled down highway 401 leaving at Bellvile to take the even more beautiful route by the side of Lake Ontario passing Picton. On reaching Glenora, the road ended and meant taking the 'free' ferry trip across to Adolphustown. (See photo) We then stopped at Kingston which was the capital of upper and lower Canada between 1841 and 1843. [View Full Entry]
