We are a recently married couple, sick of the sights around Stockport, and are planning an extended honeymoon Around the World. We are very independent and love venturing out meeting new people, and exploring new adventures. The RTW trip is planned for September 2011 until March 2012 visiting :-
San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas (2 weeks)
New Zealand (6 weeks)
Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam ( 4 months)
So we are now back on British soil and it feels surprisingly great! I’m not too sure we’ll be so enthusiastic when were back at work and reality hits home, but for now its really nice to see everybody and to have our home comforts back.. Vimto, flushing toilets, kebabs, cider, our bed, the list is endless!! We had a great last week in Thailand, we spent a few days in Bangkok shopping, then headed back down to Hua Hin to Kris’s house for a great few days of R & R.. check out the pics from the Intercontinental’s pool, it was absolute bliss and the perfect way to end our trip! Our final weekend was spent in Bangkok with Kris, Oay and Abi. Darren had his ‘lads night’ with Kris and Mark which thankfully didn’t

It really is beginning to annoy us now, but Darren managed to keep his cool as we’ve not many trips left now. We arrived at the bus station, waiting for our tuk tuk driver to pick us up from the guesthouse, to no avail. We ended up paying for one to get to our guesthouse - Happy Guesthouse, and the owner was so apologetic, explaining that the tuk tuk driver was at the other bus terminal waiting, doh! We checked in, and went to explore the city. Siem Reap is a really lovely place, it has a great

We checked out of Europe Guesthouse in PP on Weds morning and Seng, the owner, sorted our transport to the bus station. The bus ride was about 5hrs with a 15min stop half way, only $4 each so couldn’t complain. When we arrived in Sihanoukville, we tried a couple of guesthouses which were all full but luckily there was a room free at ‘Hoohaa’ for $10 a night, which was basic, but fine for what we needed. We went for a stroll around Serendipity and Ochheuteal beach and found our bearings, had a couple of drinks on the beach and hoped the

We did have a bit of a scare on the Vietnamese side as there was some kind of commotion with a people carrier that was being attacked by a big group of men. They were throwing things and trying to open the doors and drag the people out of the car, and we also heard gunshots, but didn’t actually see what happened. Our plan of going early did work and we got our visas and were on Cambodia soil around 11am. We arrived in Phnom Pehn about 3pm

We just headed to the beach as we knew our guesthouse, Truong Giang, was there, then asked a few of the locals who were all up doing their early morning exercises, and within 15 minutes we‘d arrived. We were exhausted from the bus journey so slept until midday, then we ventured out to see what ‘Vietnams Number One Beach Resort’ was all about. Russian people and big waves it would seem! Immediately it became apparent that there were a huge amount of Russian holidaymakers here.. We felt like dwarfs, they’re all so tall!! We hit the beach

I was a little worried about the reputation of the airline, and also turbulence due to the mountainous areas in Laos, but the whole experience was pleasant. The flight lasted 55 minutes, and we arrived in Hanoi around 4.10pm. We couldn’t believe it when we arrived, the temperature had gone from 30 degrees to 13 degrees!!! We were freezing! The taxi drivers at the airport were unbelievable! Trying to charge 1,000,000 dong (£30) to take us to the old quarter. We laughed at them and finally agreed a price of 100,000 dong for both of us to go by minibus…..and this is where it all started. The driver dropped the others off at their hotels and there was only us

The first stop was the thermal pools just outside of Chiang Rai, where the locals actually boil eggs in the natural hot spring water. The second stop was the White Temple (see pic), which was amazing. The White Temple was basically designed by a very wealthy Thai famous artist, who refuses to charge admission into the temple or accept handouts or donations from the government. His vision is quite different from anyone else’s (inside the temple, theres hand painted images showing Osama Bin Laden and George Bush painted in the devils eyes!!), and he does not want to be controlled by anyone who may influence his ideas. Its a 90 year project,

We arrived at our hostel for the night ’Thai Cozy House’ which was just off Khao San Rd. The place was nice but very basic, although the tailors at the shops adjoined to the hostel were a nightmare. Every time we went in and out, they hounded you to try on a suit. We unpacked, and decided to go and check out the street food and our 1st experience of Khao San Rd. We went for a drink at a busy bar, but as soon as we sat down, these three lads, shouted us over to join them. Paul from Chile, Carlos from Mexico

Fortunately we weren’t sick and managed to get onto the coach for our four hour trip up to Hua Hin. Once we arrived in Hua Hin, we dressed up our bags in tinsel and put our xmas hats on, before we got a tuk tuk to Kris’s house. When we arrived Kris was in the garden hosing down the driveway, and just laughed his head off when he saw us. It was so good to see a familiar face. Over the next couple of days we just chilled around Kris’s house with Ann Kris’s step daughter and Abi his three year old daughter. Oay his wife was in Bangkok working and wasn’t due back until Xmas

The hotel was clean and the room had a tv in, and a balcony, (although the view was of a forest with mozzies flying everywhere) for 800 baht . We didn’t really do much the first night, apart from walk round the shops and to be honest Krabi was pretty awful. The beach was in comparison to Blackpool with rubbish everywhere. We had a fish spa (which we both ended up bleeding afterwards as the damn fish had bitten too hard!!) but that was about it.. we only stayed a few days as it was cheap and we needed
