Europe » Slovenia July 27th 2007

So we have finally arrived in Slovenia. That's right, Alex and I (although I did all the driving) have gone by car from Dubrovnik all the way to Postojna, Slovenia. The drive along the coast of Croatia was very beautiful. We had the opportunity to stop in various random towns and cities and really see what the country is like. They have a very interesting culture and I have enjoyed learning about it. After a relaxing morning at the beach on Brac, Alex and I drove to Supetar to catch the ferry to Split. We spent a few hours wandering around split and seeing the famous Diocletian's Palace. However, we left after a while. We stayed in a really small town near Split last night. It was the basement of some old women. Someone we ... read more

Well I am currently on Brac Island, in the Adriatic sea. Things are going well for Alex and I after many adventures. It has only been a few days since my last posting but it feels like it has been a long time. The bus from Kotor to Dubrovnik was awful. It was completely full and we ended up having to sit on the floor for half the trip. The bus got in nearly 4 hours late. We ended up taking a nap and deciding to stay an extra day in Dubrovnik to slow things down a bit. Dubrovnik is a cool city but way too touristy. It is still very beautiful though. The walls are incredible. The thing we liked the best though was swimming outside the gates, and jumping off the rocks outside the ... read more

Greetings from the newest country in the world. After finally getting a haircut from a women that does not speak language I decided to get online to try and get a car rental for Alex and my travel in Croatia. While we really enjoyed Belgrade, it was time to move on. The train from Belgrade to Bar, Montenegro was long but very pretty. We sat next to some cute Serbian girls the entire way and talked with them the whole time. It was a lot of fun. Then we spent $50 euro on a cab for a hour and a half ride to Kotor, an ancient walled city (with no cars in the main city). We got in very late though, and ended up having to spend $160 on a room in a luxury resort ... read more

Adventures in Serbia Europe » Serbia » Belgrade By Dave090July 19th 2007David WeinsteinSo I have been in Belgrade for two days now and the first thing that comes to mind is the heat. Also, it is not as cheap as we expected. It is however, a very charming city with a lot of friendly people and nice sites. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area. I do not have time to type much but just know I am having a great time. We saw the fort, a few cool churches, walked through some great streets and experienced the great night life on the rivers. Till next time....bye... read more

Well the end of one portion of my traveling has come to a close. Today I said goodbye to the entire Weinstein clan. We had a nice time together in the Greek Isles. Crete seems like a great place but unfortunately, partly due to weather and planning, I just did not get to see a lot of it. It was nice walking through the main city of Heraklion with the family though. Today I flew from Crete to Athens with Debra, then I said goodbye to my travel partner/sister and flew on Jat Airline (the Yugoslavian airway) to Belgrade. The flight was pretty good, and I slept for most of it. Once there, I took a taxi to a hostel and met my friend Alex...my new travel partner. You can check out his travel blog ... read more

Well after an interesting few days, the Weinstein family has finally made it out of Santorini. Not that it was a bad place. On the contrary, we had a wonderful time. The geography was absolutely breathtaking. We had a great time just going to the beaches and taking it easy. We also enjoyed some of the Archaeological sites such as Ancient Thira. The day we were going to leave Santorini though, the winds became very strong. They ended up canceling our ferry out of town. So we said, oh well....another day on a beautiful Island. We promptly got to work, relaxing at the beach. However, the next day, the same thing happened. There was too much wind. By this point we were not as happy. Some of us (Debra and I) only had 4 days ... read more

Finally with the whole family Europe » Greece » Santorini By Dave090July 12th 2007David Weinstein Well after a long full day in Athens, Debra and I took the ferry to the Greek isles and have met up with our parents and Jeremy (my brother). The Greek isles are very beautiful. We are having a great time all being together. As always, there is not much time to type. We saw so many things in Athens though. The Acropolis was wonderful but crowded. All the other runes and museums were excellent. Santorini is also very nice. The food is great, and the weather amazing. This afternoon we are taking a boat to the volcano center and to swim in hot springs. It should be great. Ta... read more

Europe » Italy » Tuscany » Florence July 4th 2007

Happy July 4th everyone. It certainly does not feel like a holiday here. That's ok. Things are going great in Italy. We have gone to some amazing museums such as the Bargello, the Uffizi, the Medici Chapel and the Pitti Palace. We have seen art from all the ninja turtles (Michelangelo, Donatello, Rachael and Leonardo). We have also seen the Duomo and the Boboli gardens. It is a very beautiful place. So much good art. We have also eaten very well. Some great gelato. We have made it our mission to try the best places. Well we leave today...after seeing the David. We are going to Cinque Terra, where we have reservations, for a few days. Then we leave for Venice. Very exciting. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the blogs. Feel free to ... read more

Europe » Italy » Tuscany » Florence July 1st 2007

After quite some excitement, Debra and I have made it to Florence. We had a nice last day in Rome. We went to the Borgese Museum. It had some amazing sculptures by Bernini. Some real famous ones. After that, we walked in the park a bit and made it to the train station for our train to La Spezia.. on our way to Cinque tera..so we though. When we finally got to Cinque Tera we found there was not a single place to stay in all the 5 towns. The area was completely booked (which was contrary to what our book told us it would be like). So we had to go back to La Spezia..not that great of a city. But what happened, all the hotels were full there too. After finding some other ... read more
