Dubrovnik
In the air... Well I am currently on Brac Island, in the Adriatic sea. Things are going well for Alex and I after many adventures. It has only been a few days since my last posting but it feels like it has been a long time. The bus from Kotor to Dubrovnik was awful. It was completely full and we ended up having to sit on the floor for half the trip. The bus got in nearly 4 hours late. We ended up taking a nap and deciding to stay an extra day in Dubrovnik to slow things down a bit.
Dubrovnik is a cool city but way too touristy. It is still very beautiful though. The walls are incredible. The thing we liked the best though was swimming outside the gates, and jumping off the rocks outside the walls into the water (see pictures). After that, it was onto out next adventure. We had a lot of trouble at the car rental agency but once we finally got the car, we had a good time driving up the Croatian coast. The drive along the Croatian coast is absolutely stunning. We stopped at various small towns to look at things, eat, and

Alex and I on one of the greatest walls enclosing a city in Europe. relax. We ended up taking a ferry from the mainland over to an Island called Brac. The ferry was a bit small and I was really scared since I had to back up the car onto the boat....and there was not a lot of room to do it on. I have insurance for the car, but falling into the water because I was backing up onto a ferry is not covered.
Bol, the city on Brac where we are staying is very peaceful and beautiful. It still has tourism, but barely any Americans and the Island does not feel overrun by tourism. We have enjoyed swimming in the crystal clear waters, driving around the Island, checking out the tallest mountain in the Adriatic Sea, and seeing the rock quarry where they got the stones for the White House. I even went SCUBA diving...although the diving was not that great. Anyways, we are currently trying to figure out next few legs of our trip. More of Croatia and Slovenia are on the agenda but we are not positive where we are going, how we are getting there and where we are staying. We are checking airline prices and trying

Check out the blue water to see if it is cheaper and more efficient to drive or flight from Slovenia to Prague. If we drive, we will spend a half day in Vienna, just so I can see it. Needless to say, things are very exciting.
On other news, I have been accepted by James Cook University in Townsville, Australia into the PhD program for Marine Geology!!! This is very exciting news. I am not positive I will be going but it is great to know someone wants me as a doctorate student. Now, I have to wait and find out if I receive full funding and a stipend. I also got a B in my field camp class in Sardinia. This means I have officially finished ever requirement I needed to graduate from the University of Maryland with a BS in geology. I am very happy. Hopefully, we will have a small graduation party at my parents house sometime in late August, early September to celebrate an event that has been a long time coming. My friend's band No Compromise has even agreed to play at the party, if they are available (they are very big and might already have a big gig).
