Hey Everyone. Just got in to my Riat in Marakesh and it is so awesome, and a bit of a culture shock. I am not going to waste too much time writing but just wanted to give a quick update. Things were wonderful in Spain. After a great conference, we had 2 really nice days of seeing the geological sites in the Azores (specifically Pico and Fiat island). They are really beautiful, interesting places. I would love to have a chance to explore some of the other islands one day. It was also great talking with my colleuges more and working on setting up potential future collaborations. I had a great time in Seville as well. From Bull fights, to Tapas, to Flamanco, I did a lot. The city is great, but easy to get lost ... read more

Europe » Portugal » Azores » Flores September 20th 2011

Just a quick update. I am having a great trip here in Europe. My first few days in Lisbon were amazing. I really liked it there and saw all sorts of amazing things. Beautiful, fun, interesting city. Three days did not do it justice. I even went to a Manchester United futball game (was the biggest game in Lisbon for the year). The conference in the Azores is also going very well. It is amazing to be with some many brilliant minds. I am learning so much from them and making great contacts. I already gave my talk and it went well, but there is a lot of suggestions that I got that I think will be very helpful. I don't want to waste too much time typing and not enjoying my short time here so ... read more

Hey Everyone, First, if you haven't checked out my new school personal website, go to David's Website It has been a little bit of time since I last posted on this site but I just thought I would update you (for those of you interested) on my progress and research at the moment. I am in the processes of finishing up my first year up for my PhD. I am still trying to figure out the main topic for my research but it is getting more defined and I will keep you posted. In the mean time, I have been working really hard. I had a bit of a break last week when I went on a research cruise with my Basin Analysis class to the Exumas in the Bahamas. It was really one of the ... read more

As some of you may know, I went to the Bahamas for about a week. It was not a vacation though. I was working. We took a research boat, the Coral Reef II to the Bahamas to search for something called submarine hardgrounds. These are cemented areas of sediment that are important to facilitate coral and Stromatolite growth. Most of my pictures are on facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2310919&l=d65c9&id=5701930 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2310940&l=92511&id=5701930 But I have posted some other photos also. ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London August 13th 2007

Well it has been an amazing 3 months but all great things must come to an end. I would encourage anyone with the means and time to explore the world. It is not always easy or cheap, but I have memorizes that will last a life time. Anyways, I hope you enjoy more of these pictures. Alex and I had a lot of fun in Amsterdam. There is so much culture and history there it is quite extraordinary. It was interesting going to the Anne Frank house. The Van Gogh museum was fantastic and definitely one of the best museums I have been to in all of Europe...including Italy. I also liked the Rijks museum a lot. Unfortunately, we did not really get to experience the wonderful Netherlands countryside, although we tried to. Just another reason ... read more

Hey Everyone, Alex and I have just arrived in Amsterdam after a 10 hour night train ride here. I will try and post a few pictures of each of the places I have been to give you a better idea of what you might have missed while this site was down. Unfortunately, I can not post the Canyoning pictures (which are amazing pictures which you should check out when you have a chance to see me or if I can post them later). Now, a recap since my last e mail. Our last two days in Munich were a lot of fun. We checked out the vast Residenz palace (which held such nobles as Crazy Ludwick). We also enjoyed huge shtines of beer in the Englischer Garten,. had dinner at the very old Augustiner Bierhalle and ... read more

Hey Everyone, I am sorry that I have not posted anything for a while. I have a good reason...the entire website crashed. I have lost a lot of my travel blogs and at the moment do not have the time to restore them. Currently I do not think I am able to post any pictures either. I am really sorry. Since the last time I have posted, Alex and I have done so many amazing things. We spent some time in the mountains of Slovenia, in a tent camp. We met a lot of cool travelers and went Canyoning (I have great pictures of that). Canyoning is following a river through a canyoning, swimming through it, jumping into pools from waterfalls (our highest jump was more then 10 meters) and sliding down rock surfaces that were ... read more
