More Greetings from Rome. Things are going well here. Debra and I are just trying to figure out our plans. I have a bit more time to talk. I arrived in Pisa from Sardinia a few days ago and picked up my car. It was a little scary because I have never driven manual before. One of the Professors at Field camp took me in the parking lot twice. Anyways, I got pretty lost in the streets of Pisa. The driving here is crazy. Its like New York, with much smaller streets. The leaning tower was very incredible. I am very glad I saw it. I walked around Pisa a bit, watching all the tourism street action. I then got in my car, got lost again and eventually found the way to Sienna. I arrived ... read more

Greetings from Sienna...Tuscany. I made it from Sardinia and have now started my own travel. Hopefully I can be a bit more proactive with the blogs now, including pictures. Anyways, first things first, I have officially finished the last class I ever need to take as a geology undergraduate!!!!!!!!!!! It is about time. Very exciting. The class in Sardinia was difficult but I learned a lot. Sardinia is a beautiful place. I wish I had more time to sight-see but I was taking a 6 credit class after all. The day after the class, I had a day in Algero by myself. I checked out the city, went shopping, and took a boat ride to a really cool place called Capo Cacci. I saw some really cool Limestone caves. Yesterday I flew to Pisa, and ... read more

Hi everyone, Things are going great in Sardinia. We have gotten back from the mountains (the most secluded part of all of Europe) and are now at a resort in the southern eastern coast. It is very nice. The view is amazing. I have my own balcony that over looks the beach. Since my last blog, I have done a lot of geologic mapping. It is not all fun and games here. We have also had some interesting cultural experiences like going to a wine festival at a vinyard (all you could eat and drink) and going to a festival in the mountains with people that could not speak any English. they were very simple farmers and herders, and treated us so nicely. We ate and drank with them in the mountains and had a ... read more

Things are great. We turned in our first mapping project and I am very proud of the map I made. Yesterday we had a day off to celebrating being done. We took it easy until around 3:30 when we went to a wine vineyard for a festival. It was great. Free food (salami, cheese, mini pizzas) and all the wine you could drink..for free. They gave red, white and sparkling. It was pretty good. There was also traditional Sardinian music and dancing and we went on a tour of the wine cellars. Huge barrels of wine!!! The rest of the night was spent recuperating. Today we had an easy day of lectures and then drove around looking at volcanic rocks for our next project. Ok, I am going into town today. Speak to you all later. ... read more

Here is my first entry in a new country My plane rides were just fine, but a bit long. I definitely did some sleeping. I have been here in Sardinia for 3 days now and it is as beautiful as I have heard. Very nice beaches, interesting cliffs, and friendly people. We are staying in a hostel in a small town near the city Alghero. Beyond the sunburn, and the fact that Euros and pounds do not go as far as dollars, things are great. The food is nice (and I am told it will just get better at the other places we go to) and the vino is very good. I wish I new a bit more ltallian though. Anyways, I spent my first night meeting people and going to a local bar. The second ... read more
