It's been a while between posts but I've been super busy soaking up the awesomeness of Peru! Getting ready to leave lima i met some of my tour group, 3 british girls (one who lives in Kenya). We hit it off immediately which was great. Cusco is a 1 hour flight from lima and is the main city near Macchu Picchu. Although tourist oriented, it's gorgeous place that takes you back in time with its stunning architecture. In the main square, even the kfc and mcdonalds have had to conform to the look and feel of the square. The day we arrived a local celebration was underway and we witnessed the locals in traditional dress as pictured. We've had a few days here and have truly enjoyed just soaking it up - eating, bartering in the ... read more

So Lima is the capital of Peru, and has around 10 million people. Despite this, the only form of public transportation is bus or taxi. I'm staying in Miraflores, one of the safest districts which is 3 districts away from lima district where the old town and many attractions are. I took a half day city tour today and while driving from Miraflores to Lima I noticed an innovative use of the centre ... read more

He shows me the menu - there are 4 types of real champagne on offer, thanks Stuart, don't mind if I do.We have a brief chat, this is all the people so I not only do I get to move to a window seat, I have no one next to me! A few people have commented that the blog is blank. Well yeah, I hadn't left! So here's a short post to tide you over. No idea about the availability of WiFi in Peru so it could be a while! If you've met me you'll know I'm not a morning person. Today my alarm was set for 4am but of course I woke at 3.30. This is after I stayed up 'late' to watch Survivor. No spoilers while I'm away please! Anyway I'm flying with Qantas, as I've saved up like 5 years of frequent flyer points for this. Was stoked to be able to afford premium economy one way, as we all know how lame long haul flights are. But then I had enough points to upgrade my Hobart to Sydney leg to business yay! And ... read more
