Cheeseburger in Paradise
Cheeseburger in Paradise
You know I had to have one of these! Trelle, it was actually cooked unlike the one in Roatan!
That's right folks, it's yet another new year. Today Thailand celebrates it's new year which is a raucous good time. Though we didn't get to partake fully in the festivities, we can tell that they do it right. As part of the celebration, they have huge water fights throughout town. People drive around in trucks, cars, scooters, scooters with sidecars, etc. and douse each other with water from huge trash cans inside of whatever vehicle they are using. For the most part it's all in good fun and it's actually quite nice seeing as how it's so damn hot out there. [View Full Entry]

They really didn't scam like Bangkok.
Today is the day when we leave Bangkok for the beauty of Thailand's Islands. First stop is Phuket, which should be pretty nice. There we're going to get certified to scuba dive and do a couple of day trips to some nearby islands. After that we head northeast to Ko Tao and Ko Pha Ngan. Should be pretty nice. We spent the last 4 days in Chiang Mai, which was awesome and definitely a place we'll head back to in the future. It's a smaller town of a couple hundred thousand and it's got a lot of charm. We stayed in [View Full Entry]

So, Chance forgot to put this in the blog and I wanted to add it since it was pretty interesting. We made it back from Chaing Mai and headed to the other side of Bangkok to pick up our Indian visa. We had to drop our passports off and come back after a 4 hour wait so they could staple the visa into the ol passport. Why it takes 4 hours to do this, I don't know. Anyway, we sat in the air conditioning of the embassy wondering what to do when we decided to check out this neighborhood bar boasting [View Full Entry]

It's Monday morning and we are off to Chiang Mai for a few days. Thailand has been pretty good so far. It's hotter than hell, but what can you do? The first night we stayed in an air conditioned room but the last 2 have been with just a fan. All I can say is, I'm spoiled. The fan helps but damn I could go for some A/C right now. Yesterday we saw some amazing temples but it was like 100 degrees and we decided to do it at 1pm, so we moved through it pretty quickly. Even though we didn't [View Full Entry]

APRIL FOOLS! We didn't have a lay over in Laos. I know not too funny but we had to do something for April Fools Day! (is it an apostrophe?) We touched down really late on Thursday night and rode a long bus to Khao San Rd. The backpackers road. This is where a crap load of backpackers come for easy and cheap accomodations that you can hook up at any time of night or day. So it's good for those flights that get you here at midnight, which is what time the international flights get here. You don't have to know [View Full Entry]

We're not in Thailand. Our flight had to circle FOREVER and then when we finally landed (and it was the scariest landing I've ever had to go through) we had to land in Laos. Oh yes, Laos. So we're waiting to get back on a flight to get us to Bangkok. We'll blog soon. [View Full Entry]

We're sitting here at the computer uploading a bunch of photos for you guys. We finally got some on a disc. We hope everyone likes them. It may be a bit before we can do it again considering the photo technology in Thailand and India. Fingers crossed that we can keep this up. So since shopping we checked out Victoria Harbour and went up to Victoria Peak on a little trolley thing. This was in our 1000 things to see before you die book so why not? It was pretty cool and we ended up hiking down a very steep hill [View Full Entry]

Headed to Hong Kong
Headed to Hong Kong
We thought Hong Kong was China, but apparently we were leaving the country. Does anyone know what a Special Administrative Region is?
This is what we hear as we walk down the mean streets of Kowloon, here in Hong Kong. They do a few things well apparently: suits, fake Rolexes, fake bags, and...hash. The hash is usually quietly spoken after the boisterous claim for the other items, so that's nice. No, we got to Hong Kong on Friday after a mere 28 (the train company says 25...I guess it's fuzzy math) hour train ride from Shanghai. We're actually pretty good at these long distance journeys by now. It doesn't really faze us anymore. All you need is a good book, a deck of [View Full Entry]

WARNING: THIS ONE IS REALLY LONG AND INDICATIVE OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WAIT A WEEK TO BLOG. SORRY ABOUT THAT AND IF YOU WANT TO SKIP OVER PARTS OF IT, WE UNDERSTAND. WE'LL TRY TO DO THIS MORE OFTEN FROM NOW ON. Right now, we are in Hangzhou with a little time to kill before our train back to Shanghai. Since our last post, things have been pretty uneventful but crazy depending on how you look at it. We got into Shanghai last Friday around noon and went to a hostel to try and get a room, the same hostel [View Full Entry]

Well, we are about to leave Xi'an for Shanghai. We've been here since the lovely 12 hour train ride from Beijing. We bought a "hard sleeper" and they weren't kidding. We got a bit of sleep with our ear plugs, eye covers and bellies full of tylenol pm but it wasn't enough. I've never had an issue with sleeping after popping some tylenol pm but it was a pretty bumpy ride. After we arrived we were bombarded with, "Hello. Do you have a place to stay? (yes) Oh, where? (at a hostel) Do you know how to get there? Because I'm [View Full Entry]
