Two sugars and a dream thats how you pronounce thank you in turkish. Or at least that's how it was explaind to me. I know its been nearly three months since I returned from this trip but life has been more busy then I thought it would be a few months ago. So If you don't get all the stories forgive me. When I get to see you I will definitly tell you more as the stories come. Two sugars..two continients...and a dream... Istanbul. Amazing that this city which sits on two continents has not been the source of division in a world which seems to highlight how people are so different. In this city the differences add to the beauty of the city while their love of the country and all it has to offer ... read more

So from Dec 24th till the day I flew back to Belfast, Jan 4th. I was to attempt to understand the french of everyday people. After chirstmas eve dinner and christmas day lunch, which lasted five hours, my head was realing from the amount I understood and didn't understand. We ate soo much food. But I was assured this was soely because it was the holiday's. I am sure its the same the world over. Each course lasted about an hour each. The conversation always winning over the begining of the next course. Meals started with oysters, something I tried the first night and vow never to eat again. The experince also freed me of ever eating fish. Oysters is accompnaied by slivers of salmon, for the non oyster eaters. Seonc course was pate followed by ... read more

YeaH, so for Chirstmas break I was able to hope a short flight to Paris and spend a few days toursiting around the city till Christmas eve when I met up with Elodie. SO this is the story. I arrived after a lovely short flight into Charles De gaulle Airport. And took the Metro straight to Montmartre where I would stay in a hostel for the next few days. I had heard about a free christmas concert that was to occur that night at Notre Dame and I was determined to get there in time. So I hopped the metro after dropping my bags and headed straight to Mile zero France. (I was told later that all distances in France are measured from a point directly in front of Notre Dame.) When I arrived, I found ... read more

Well Since there are soo many pictures ot update you all with. Here are the first ones from the Chirstmas party we had at our house. As you can tell we really decorated. Our house still looks like a kindergarten art project. But hey we all did it by hand. Including the christmas tree made out of posterboard and the extremly long paper chain which reaches from the front hall to the top floor up three flights of stairs. Of course since this was the most decorated part of the house this is where we had our Party. A Party filled with Desserts, party crackers, paper crowns and crazy gifts. At one point our hall looked more like an emergency clinic with people strewn out over the floor and stairwells. ... read more

I know, its been a long time. I would like to believe its because I was waiting for new pictures but really I was just too crazy to want to sit at a computer and write anything more than I had to. I am currently working on my many papers that are due in January. Well I say many but realy its only three. They should be a breeze seeing as how they are only about 10 pages long and my dissertation will be around 50 pages. I have mostly finished one paper, so that's exciting! yeah! I think it may have been my hardest one since it dealt complely with theory, which sucks. I'd much rather deal with hard facts. Anyways, Halloween. Wow It was fun. They don't do anykind of dressing up like ... read more

So Friday I wrote this beautiful long description of my trip to Dublin my rendezvous with old friends and of course the beautiful weather. I am telling you it was perhaps the best thing ever written! I swear. Unfortunatly for you I accidently deleted it with one swip of the wrong key. So now all you get is something perhaps less grandious and less shall we say perfect. So last weekend, Margaret (a new friend from San Francisco) and I took a bus to Dublin for a much needed weekend away. I was quite excited because Susie (from Vancouver) was going to be meeting us there and Nic(another Friend from Vancouver) was also going to meet up for lunch. When Margaret and I arrived we noticed almost immediatly how relaxed we both were and how relaxed ... read more

On Saturday a huge group of International students took a trip to the North Antirm Coast, the Giants causeway, and Dunluce Castle. The day was typical weather wise for Northern Ireland. The morning was beautiful and clear. Blue skies abounding in alll their glory, then as we get along in the car the rain begins pouring down. I was very glad that I had packed my rain coat. Of course once we arrive first in Port Stewart The sun once again comes out. But the calming breeze is replaced by a fierce wind, which you can see in the pictures. At all points throught the day we were subject to the ever changing mood of the weather. However, we did see more rainbows that day then I think I have ever seen. when I was ... read more
