This is going to be short. I just need to get this off my chest. I've been dating a girl for some time now and things have been going pretty good. Usually, when the road that is life gets a little easier for us, it graciously brings us to a fork in the road. She's always loved my eyes, which of course was surprising to me because no one had ever said this to me before, but I do know why. I look at her with different eyes, I know this, and I feel it. People always make fun of me and say "Oh Angel! How you’re falling in love!" (In many different languages I might add) and I always get serious and shut it out, but with a smile. The idea of it, as great ... read more

A long time ago I had a lot of friends. You always have the ones that stand out here and there and you go around with sayings like “1 good friend is better than 10 bad ones”, which of course is a quote inspired by Samuel Johnston “True happiness consists not in the multitude of friends, but in there worth and choice”. But in the end, back then it’s just all about sounding cool or feeling important. I think I really get this quote now. A few years ago, I had, what I felt at the time, was my few friends that surpassed the rest. We did a lot of things together and we did it during a time where I was learning my new passion, Kung Fu. So learning this new life passion with friends ... read more

Power Of The Laowai!

So, for those of you who don’t know and I’m guessing most, a laowai is the word used for foreigner. Really makes you feel ostracized in a way, rather than saying “american” or “japanese” like we do in America, they just call you “laowai”. However, in China, there is a power to being a laowai in many ways and truthfully, I find it quite hilarious. Staring…it’s as simple as it sounds. They stare you down; in fact it’s definitely something that took me some time getting use to. They walk by, staring at you with amazement. My first day here at TLC, there were even some parents who would walk by the classroom, notice me in the room and take a step back like a “whoa” and just look inside like they didn’t see what they ... read more

I always say “Life follow its path. We follow life’s”. Even when that path is quite winedy and were not sure where we’re going to end up. It’s nice at the end of the day, to find some purpose in the reason for the madness. As you know from my previous blog entry, I didn’t quite make things on time. I stood at a friend’s house in SanFrancisco that night. The next day I ate breakfast at another friend’s house and left for the BART (bay area rapid transit) from her house. On the BART, I ran into an Asian family…of course you run into these everywhere in SF but it was no coincidence that I run into this specific family, at this specific station as they are on their way to the same flight to ... read more

Getting There

Well, my phone goes off at 2:30AM after sleeping for 45 minutes just to catch a quick nap before my flight. I do the typical “5 more minutes” and turn the alarm off, also thinking to myself that my grandmother was downstairs making coffee; she was just downstairs an hour ago asking me for information about China, which might I add I don’t even think it was about China since I had no idea what she was talking about, so it felt like a safe and good call to make…especially when your tired and it means “just a little longer” . I realize now that I honestly think she was sleep walking... Anyways, my 5 minutes has just turned into half an hour and its 3:00AM and the first thing I realize is “We have to ... read more
