Passion to globe trot and achieve life long dream for Round The World Travel was burning ever since I started sailing in ships with my father who apparently and lucky for me is a Marine Engineer by profession.
Now that I have job in hand to support me I resume my journey to see the beauty of nature, people and culture.
Why is that people from one location behave different from other? How does art, culture, customs, history and nature influence people and their lifestyle?
I try to go beyond the commercialized tourist destinations, expensive family outings and explore to observe the hidden mysteries of nature, interact with locals. I prefer not frequenting the same destinations but rather heading solo in an adventure ride on a road trip with seeking flight as the last resort. Most of my travels are unique in its own way and I generally have a good time!

Prologue Scheduled, routine daily life and associated boredom has taken a toll on me. Office work, studies, work out for the whole of the year without a single day off made me feel that I am now a robot. Longing to explore, going beyond the protocols and rules of city life makes me a rebel who is trying to escape from the prison of this city life. I hardly moved out of the city boundaries and felt nostalgic about South East Asia. In the middle of the work from the corner of the corner of my office desk peeps the photo of me having a great time in Thailand. It lures me, seduces me and takes me to South East Asia for a moment and brings me smile as momentarily makes me forget the pain and ... read more
Day 11 Getting the crew together I woke up at around 8 o clock in the morning and got my bags packed up and put my entire stuff down in the luggage room and handed over my passport and some important documents in the safety deposit and kept the 50 ltrs fake North Face bag which I bought from the market yesterday with me. I checked out from the room and booked for 2 day trekking tour instead of a planned 3 day trek. The idea behind is that I got to know that the difference between the two day and three day trek is that we can get to meet some extra hill tribes with a lot more of worthless tiring trek and I had planned to leave Chiang Mai on the 3rd day. Hence, ... read more
Day 10 Phuket Off.... I got little sleep but woke up with absolutely no hangover. After the complementary breakfast I settled the hotel bills and left for airport in hotel provided sedan (which was ridiculously expensive and charged me extra 650 bahts!). Hard day coming up as I need to reach Chiang Mai by tonight for my long waited trek in North Thailand and to Laos and the breakfast was not that great to my liking. I stopped the sedan at Phuket beach road, Starbucks Café to grab some coffee and doughnuts. Starbucks was virtually empty early morning apart from a chirpy young Australian guy and girl. The girl kept smiling at me and after a while started laughing and I barely understood the reason. I felt a bit embarrassed but she turned up to my ... read more
Crazy Nightout at Bangla Road I got a note from my Canadian mate, Josh that he was heading this way and another new found friend, Richard from UK is already at the infamous Bangla Road. I tried one of the public telephone booths to call up Richard but unfortunately did not get the connection. An old Thai lady selling some junk on the street next to the booth kept barking at me. Unable to bear the noise any longer she tried to call someone without luck herself. Probably a pimp besides street vendor with as much English she could have learnt kept on repeatedly asking me “Are you calling a call girl?” “Do you need a girl?” Stupid! But every ugly lady I guess has little good side so she gave her mobile to call though ... read more
Day 9 An early morning beach hopping of Phuket and way to the Real Beach I woke up to a loud knocks at the door at around 7:45 in the morning instead of wakeup call at 7 am. Hurriedly, I was dragged to the pickup van at 8 am and had to miss out my breakfast. Damn! I was the first person in the van as it went on cruising along the entire South beaches of Phuket. None the less it was nice that I got a complementary early morning trip to all the beaches. After final pick up of middle aged American couple from kamala beach we were transferred to a private Island estate villa across the Phuket main road. More people merged with us Russian couple, Romanian Group, 3 Aussi party girls, middle aged ... read more
Day 8 Leaving Krabi in a crappy way I slept and overslept and virtually woken up to the rude knocks at the door by the room boy who turned up to remind me that if I don’t vacate the room by 10:30 I have to pay for another day. I grabbed some fluids and bread piece and munching them rushed out to the street. Lucky that I got a Swangthaew which passed by less developed country road and dropped me at Krabi bus station just beside the Krabi open market. The bus conductor for Phuket bus virtually pulled my luggages out of Swangthaew and placed them in the bus luggage area. As I boarded the bus chasing the person I found the public bus has a majority of Thai country people. Occasionally a some hawkers board ... read more
Day 7 A Day trip to Paradise Ao Nang To my disappointment and I slept longer period in the morning and missing important time tripping by day. I cursed myself many times every since. There are lot of islands hopping I had planned and I have to finish them all by the end of the day. It will be a mess if I could not complete it on time. I went down and learnt from the receptionist that the there was no trips here during day and all the boats has left already. I informed him that I extend my stay for another day and I persuade him for that as all the rooms had been booked in advance. I went out to the beach directly and asked for "Long Tail Boat Ticket" for myself alone. ... read more
Day 6 Bye bye Samui....Krabi here I come I woke to a pleasant morning, sun rays peeping from the curtains, sweet sea breezing is blowing, and step outside my room to find clear blue sky and sun shining high. I packed my bags and bid adieu to David and Penzie. I found others rooms locked so I could not meet them before leaving. I loved the brief stay here and went on a stroll by Chaweng beach one final time before arriving at Samui Airport. Samui Airport was delightful attraction in itself. It rightly claims itself to be a boutique airport and there is no indoor area, except the gift shop and the buildings are in form of sacks and cottages and shades with lot of colorful decorations and tropical plants. Even the toilets had big ... read more
Day 5 A Day to Recover I guess it was the toxicity of the Thai red bull or tonic that I realize it was fatal to get a sound sleep and that I am awake or that my eyes are merely open and I could walk around in hangover but paralyzed as much to think or do any work. I was blank! And all that I hear is Madonna singing loudly nonstop the song “Give it to me!” Sometime under warm shower, sometime in Jacuzzi and with constant drinking of fluids from the fridge I dragged myself to book air tickets for Krabi next day. I realized it was futile attempt to make it to Phuket on road. All the flights to Phuket were already packed and I had thoughts to skip Krabi but now since ... read more
Day 4 Exploring Samui I woke up to find that Darren and his company are away and will head to Ko Phangan on their own and different plans to head to party and the sea is very rough to go from Ko Samui to Ko Phangan so most boat services are getting cancelled. I tentatively booked for a shared speedboat service and hoped the weather as well as situation improves by evening and rented a Thai scooter for the day and headed to up towards Big Buddha Temple(Wat Phra Yai) located in the hill northern side of Samui island close to Samui airport. After 73 gradual steps I could reach the top and the view was fantastic and could get a great view of the surroundings and also the island. I drove back and crossed Chaweng ... read more
