Bangkok to vientiane

 Asia » Laos » West » Vientiane
Sa bai dii from Laos! Well we've left Oz far behind and landed in South East Asia! First stop the crazy city of Bangkok. Spent a few days there. Mad busy place. Met Pamela a friend from home and her mates. Spent a night drinkin under the train station on the street. Everyday we saw an elephant at the bottom of our train station, as you do in a city! We went to Chiang Mai for a few days and did a 3 day trek into the jungle, where we spent some time with local hill tribes. It was great to [View Full Entry]

Howye all? Alls great here. We're just killing sometime before we hit for Asia later today. We've left Darwin about 4 weeks ago and made our way to Perth. Great trip, done loads of good stuff. WE got a lift from Darwin to Broome with a sound german girl and spent about 5 days on the road, going through the edge of the kimberleys, stopping at swimming holes, gorges and random outback town. Fantastic scenery! Spent a few days in Broome, stayed on the beach, saw the stairway to heaven, visited cable beach and watched another beautiful sunsed. Travelled by bus [View Full Entry]

Darwin

Oceania » Australia » Northern Territory » Darwin
Right, we've been here now 6 wks. we've worked as little as possible and are set too move on. Darwin is a crazy town, full of the dregs of australian society i.e. old single men, that drink all day. the highlight of Darwin has to be Mindil Beach. they hold markets here every Thursday and Sunday, and the sunsets are class. Sold the car, for a bit of a profit, so happy days. Myself and Nicholas(aoilo's dad) played golf today with two locals. Priceless. they played 18 holes and drank a beer or a rum and coke every hole! Just to [View Full Entry]

Right, since the last blog, we've headed west, through the outback. Well and truly equipped for beach weather, we spent about 2 weeks freezing our nuts off. Al Gore needs to take a quick trip out this way. its supposed to be roasting but we spent 2 of the coldest weeks in history in the outback oh well. Before we left Cairns, we did our Padi. Great trip. Nothing quite like it. on our first solo dive, we were swimming around this huge coral mountain, only to see this dark grey shape about 20 meters away swimming our way. an [View Full Entry]

Right, we're back in business. Working days are behind us and we're on the road again. Left sydney 4 wks ago in our ford falcon station wagon, shes a beauty. runs like a dream, no problems to date. but we have the toughest part of the journey to go. west through the northern territory to Darwin. Its supposed to be bleak!! First stop out of Sydney was Port Macquarie. Nice spot, quiet start though. Highlight was a sunset cruise on the harbour looking at dolphins and the sunset (funnilly enough). Little were we to know that this would be the [View Full Entry]

Hello der, heres the latest low down. Alls great. Just back from tassi. Cool spot. Loved it, just toured around, trekking and seeing the sights. Check out the pics. Last weekend we hit for the tennis. Despite the bad weather (it pissed all day so the outdoor courts were closed, which means that there was only one court available for games. the queues were too long so we just chilled and watched the tennis on a big screen. after a while we gave queuing a go and as luck would have it, two people came out of the arena, picked us [View Full Entry]
