Round the World 2007
a trip by Andrea Kenyon and Paul Matthews
From: March 3rd 2007
Until: August 31st 2007
In 2007 we both took a six month career break and after months of planning set off on our first round the World trip together. We'd both travelled before we met so the focus of this trip was an area of the world neither of us had visited; South America. But first I wanted to show Paul the highlights of Thailand from my previous trip, three years earlier. It turned out to be the best way to start our trip as we were both exhausted after packing all our belonging up and putting them into storage and handing over everything at work.
After a month in Thailand we had a quick side trip to Cambodia to see the imposing temples of Ankor. Then it was onto Australia, purely to meet up with the majority of our circle of friends from Nottingham who had decided to immigrate to Oz. With Fiji just a hop away we decided to splurg on two weeks of beach time - I was especially keen to go since I'd lived in Oz for a year and didn't have the funds to make the short flight across.
Our final four months were spent in South America, attempting to get by with our teach yourself Spanish. We were doing pretty well until we got to Brazil, only to discover they speak Portuguese- oops!
