thought this would be my last blog, as im flying home tonight. ive enjoyed writing them but dont think i can get away with keeping on going once i get home! um ive had an enjoyable week of chilling out in singapore. its been a really nice way to end the trip, in style. it was good to visit the 'Geyleng' area - seeing old, cute, chinese guys playing Mahjong on the sidewalk and the women shopping for durian. i visited Changi museum and was actually affected by what i saw. it was so much more real seeing it at the actual site, but the photos of starving POW and the conditions they lived in, and also the way in which they faced the adversity of the Japanese's torture - building a makeshift university, drawings etc. ... read more

the plane landed in Singapore at 12:45am this morning. i dont know how common it is here, but the other passengers and myself were greeted by about 15 scary, bald, security guys with huugee guns as we came off the plane...? a lovely welcome to Singapore?! i was amused and tried to take a photo, before being told in no uncertain terms to delete it. haha naughty naughty. we sped though immigration, customs, baggage and i was then ushered into a line to get a taxi (it took literally 4 seconds until one came!!) The taxi actually had seatbelts, and the driver spoke English!! this may seem standard to you but coming from Indo, its crazily luxurious. it was 1:30am by this stage but the city was lit up like day light so i could see.. ... read more

i fear this may be the crappest blog ever but ill do it anyways cos im sure you're all having withdrawls. im on gili trawangan! off lombok. most amazing place ever! but first i shall recap::: yogya was awesome, as i knew it'd be. even though it became apparent that esther HAD after all contracted dengue fever. and we DID spend like 3 days in the hosptial with her. and she DID faint AGAIN but this time it was slightly more humerous. we had lovely man friends who hung out with us in the hosptial, and at one stage we even got to pray. yeahh those hospital days were funny.. i did a lot more drinking and dancing, poor pol couldnt though. we found orgasmic chocolate melts and made lots of australian friends, got involved with ... read more

BUT IM BACK I YOGYA! haha yaay. we got some cheap flights, it didnt seem worth staying in bali while wishing we were in yogya so here we are. god. pol got soo effing sick a few days ago. she fainted in a shop and hit her head real bad on the glass cabinet! argh drama. luckily we had bumped into the Aliotis! and they helped us get to the clinic! the whole day was rather disasterous - we went to the monkey forest which was pretty crap. haha id been before, the monkeys were scary. the temples were beautiful though - one esspecially deep into the wet jungle with stream running through it - it struck me as a really spiritual place. we had just finished the monkey forest, but it was raining so hard ... read more

so we're in ubud now. catching up - sanur was lovely but boring. we didnt have the best time, we felt starved of culture and friends:( everything was rich european prices and i got sick from the food. on our second day, we went to Tanah Lot. it was pretty crowded even in the morning, its a huge rock sea temple and its very beautiful. the surroundings were just as scenic - it reminded me of the great ocean road as it has rocks like the 12 apostels. ive got some photos but theres really little i can say! the next day we went to kuta and were equally horrified at the sight - just feral australians drinking in the streets, wearing no clothes, swearing at the locals and jeering at us. they have no resepct ... read more

sorry this will be rushed, as this internet cafe is ffing expensive and im feeling poor. everythign in bali is at least 4x the price of yogya. its still semi cheap but i cant get used to it and am refusing to eat until its for 20c again. haha oh do i miss yogya... we're staying in this amaazzing expensive place in sanur that pols grannies wanted to pay for - its full of really rich europeans, who arent very friendly. we get a free breakfast - they literally cook you anything! today we had fruit, coffee, tea, crossaints, omlettes.. argh im still full. we visited Tanah lot today! it was crowded but beautiful - its a huge island temple but you cant go inside because its crumbling. the heat here is less intense but poor ... read more

I had my first run in with the famous Indonesian Police a few nights ago. We were driving Jalan Marliboro and jeje didn’t stop at a red light (no one takes any notice of through traffic lights here!) and we got pulled over. They were very scary - told me to stay where I was with the bike while they ushered jj away for a few minutes. He returned laughing, saying he wanted to show me as much of Indonesian life as possible. He’d payed the policeman Rp 30,000, which is the average amount here. Corruption here is just accepted as a part of life here, even though stickers everywhere say HENTI KORRUPSI (stop corruption) jj explained the police academy costs like Rp 5 Million to attend, so in paying the police your ensuring that more ... read more

argh second half got deleted so ill try again... AS I WAS SAYING: i found a new girl crush. her name is yanti and its like shes a 6 yr old cheeky boy, only shes stunning so no one knows how to react to her. she plays practical jokes on everyone and teases all the boys. we go and get ice tea a lot so she can bully the cleaning stafff.... on the way home from work it began to rain, so so hard. it was monsoonal, the streets became deserted, everything went dark and we were still speeding along on the motobike (no one slowed down even tho the water was like 30cm deep). i accidently bought "chocolate and cheese" bread cos i couldnt remember the indo word for cheese and assumed 'keju' would be ... read more
