Poutine I love poutine! And I look forward to having it in its native land one day :) But like you, Andrew isn't a fan. The cabin in the woods looks amazing, what a find by Emma :)
Perspective I enjoy and respect sympathetic restorations, but repurposing old architectural structures is so much more meaningful to me... breathing life into them in a practical way. I love the perspective and depth of this photo :)
This and your following pic could not be more contrasted I have posted them in TB's 'Cathedrals, grand churches, mosques & places of worship" thread in the Photography Forum. Check 'em out!
Thanks Thanks for doing that. Too rarely I manage to find time to add my own photos to forums I'm afraid. So I am happy that you do it every now and then. /Ake
Anonymouse Reminds me of necromancy based on the meanderings of mice that we came upon in a game of Balderdash on holidays recently, the name for which I cannot recall. Is Anonymouse based on miniaturisation that mice could inhabit, or is there another reason for the Swedish collection's quirky name?
Anonymouse They build homes, shops, nightclubs, restaurants designed for mice. Well, they are in mouse size anyway. They are not actually used by mice of course. The artists don't sign their creations with their own name so they play with words and call themselves Anonymouse. /Ake
Fascinating Quebec A potpourri of delights of Quebec. A great photo selection. Hard to pick, but I select this one for composition with arcs, angles and straight lines that do not fit in any box in my reckoning!
Interesting choice I never thought about that photo as having any kind of artistic quality. But now that you mention it, there are some interesting elements to it. Thanks for noticing. /Ake
Charming and Quaint Your time spent in and around Quebec City sounded very interesting with all the diverse places you were able to see. The architecture is quite charming, Île d'Orléans looked lovely, and Montmorency Falls is beautiful! The little cabin you stayed in must have been cozy. Your photos are wonderful!!
It was nice We had a good time in Quebec. It was relaxing and there intersting things to see. No spectacular sights to be honest, but interesting in their own way. /Ake
Just wait for... We have another blog written that I think you might like if you liked that photo. It is the next one we are going to publish and it holds some really awesome public art with several in a similar style as the one in this photo. /Ake
Lesser known towns We enjoy your blogs because when traveling you tend to go to lesser known towns as well as those know by all. Thanks for taking us along.
Much part of the fun To us much part of the fun with travelling lies in also finding places that go under the radar of most people but still are intersting to visit. Good to hear that you also also find them intersting to read about, /Ake
Montreal A very interesting city, definitely on my list of places to visit along with the rest of Quebec. The architecture looks fascinating, definitely a place I could walk around I think.
Good place to walk Montreal was a pretty good place to walk around in. It was too large to cover only on foot. But the public transport is excellent and when it is too far to walk you just take a trip and continue on foot again. /Ake
Albany and Buffalo I'm glad you made it back to the USA and we appreciate that you go to locations off the beaten track. There is more to do in Buffalo but you didn't have enough time. I'm glad you got a glimpse.
It's been a while since we were in the States It has been quite a while since we visited the US last time. We love United States so we were happy that we could get a few days there in the beginning and end of our Canada trip. /Ake
We hope you'll like the QC blog We also went to Quebec City. The blog from there is in the pipeline. We hope you reat it and enjoy it once we have published it. /Ake
Odd and interesting It could be that the rest of the church has been destroyed somehow and that only the tower remains. That theory is at least as good as ours. /Ake
We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden.
We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. Not because we are running out of places to visit but because we find more places we want to go to faster than we manage to travel to them.
Some of the things from our travel bucket list we have ticked off since we started this blog in 2006 are
