My Renaissance person is Maya Angelou. She not only has been awarded for many her many talents, but has made history for African American women. She is an author, poet, actress, producer, professor and civil rights activist. Maya Angelou has written aspiring works such as, “Phenomenal Woman”, books like, “I Know Why the Cage Bird Sings”, and plays such as “And Still I Rise”, that have gone down in history. Many of her works are now taught in colleges/universities across the country. She worked with other great writers and activist, like Dr. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X that helped change the world we live in today.
