Hello people!!!!
Well we certainly covered alot of ground since the last entry!!! (Sounds weird as you only just got the last couple of entries-let's just say we've been a bit slack!).
Anyway after a sad departure from the 'land down under' we touched down in Singapore. What a culture shock! We hit a touch of luck (shock horror!!!) Before even leaving the airport we'd managed to get a offered a nice cheap hostel and...a free meal! Fortunately for us we arrived right in the centre of the Singapore food festival and they were literally giving food away! So next day we found our way to a very posh riverside restaurant and were served our free meal. (Don't think they were too impressed by us not buying expensive cocktails and after dinner drinks to up our bill! Hah! Thats what you get for giving scummy backpackers a free lunch! Seems there is such a thing after all!)
Keeping within our 5* habits, that evening we found our way to the Raffles hotel to finally enjoy a real Singapore Sling! We are officially the worst backpackers. While our fellow travellers slum it in dollar-a-pint style venues...guess where Paul and
Wish You Were Here... Del Oro Style
"Lookie, Lookie.... Luvly Jubly, Hey Spice Girl!!" Piper are!!! Wish we could have stayed there...maybe one day!
We certainly feel we walked the circumference of the city! Ending in Orchard Road we'd walked constantly for about 6hours! Most of which was spent trying to find the bloomin' train station. "Ah yes sir...it's this way....no no no, it's that way...why no....this way!" Aaaaaggghhh! We eventually found it and booked our travel to Malaysia's first stop-Johor Bahru. A whopping $3!!! (about a pound!) From there we caught a very luxurious bus to Kuala Lumpur and our 1 pound a night hostel. The evening was spent being highly immature and going to the market after we'd had a few. "I see you have Minnie Mouse....do you sell the Effervescing Cowboy?" "Do you accept Monopoly money here?" "Ah yes sir yes sir...come this way!" Haha!!!!! We're going to hell! After the market there was not an awful lot to see in Kuala Lumpur-just another city. Saw all the usual touristy attractions then moved on.
Next stop was Butterworth-the last stop before Thailand. Now...we went here on recommendation from a tour office in Brisbane....erm......where exactly did she go???? It is by far the most dull, lifeless place on Earth. Still,
Jungle in the City??
Jungle Trekking the Lazy Way we had a blast! After spending literally 3 and a half minutes on George Town Island (return ferry 16pence for 2!) We were accosted by an old toothless man who offered us top class cheap accomodation! After seeing the appalling room we walked straight into a 6foot semi naked tranny!!!!! Hysterics doesn't even come close!!!!!!
As soon as we could we fled Malaysia. After stopping the night in Hat Yai-Thailand-we caught the next bus to Phuket. Spent most of our time staying at Patong Beach-a very tacky yet somehow appealing destination. All the ladyboys and sleaze you can imagine! (Go on....imagine it!!). But the best part of Phuket was the arrival of our lovely Wheely-am!!! Our scooter we hired-named so because he goes Wheely fast and has wheels!! (Excuse us!) After Paul's 20minute 'intense' training we were apparently up-to-scratch and off on the open road-Piper on back!!! We managed to cover a third of the West Coast on 1pound of fuel! Good ol' Wheely-am!
From Phuket we travelled to Koh Phi Phi (pronounced Pee Pee-haha-funny name!) and stayed in a tiny straw hut right on the seafront. Sadly photos didn't come out-stoopid camera!! (But this saw the arrival
Welcome to Butterworth
"So we're here??.... Where are we??... Lets go!!" of digital camera no. 6! No jokes! We're that bad! ) Koh Pee Pee was gorgeous and took us back to our Fiji days! (Just look at our sunset photo!) Weather was stunning (so much for rainy season) so we topped up our tans and befriended some of the local 'characters!' Ever wonder what became of Captain Birdseye? We now know! So will you when you see the photo! Also, while sitting on the beach, a little tiddly, we managed to talk to a local Thai man for about 3hours. Interestingly enough the conversation was in totally different languages! Every so often the word "THAILAND!" would come up and we'd all raise our glass and cheer! Bless him!
Sadly we finished Pee Pee (sorry couldn't resist!!) and headed on a very rocky boat back to Krabi for our mammoth journey to Bangkok! Having left Pee Pee at 2pm we arrived in Bangkok at 6am next morning! My Sweet Lord!
Thats about it for now.....you must await the next entry for Bangkok!!
Hope you're all well. Message us lots!! If you make it through this entry then leave us a message.....now we'll see who's actually reading these!! Mwa ha
Pointless Day Out!!!
The biggest waste of 16 pence to date!!! haaaaaaaaaaaaa
Bye Everyone! Enjoy your heatwave!!!! Grrrr!
