Hello Everyone, hope all is well! We had a great final week in Koh Lanta and continued to enjoy a very relaxed lifestyle on the island. We can't say enough about our beautiful resort and all the enjoyable things we have experienced in Thailand this visit. Valentines Day is a very special day in Thailand and they go all out for the celebration. The staff at our resort worked hard for three days getting ready for the beach party. They wove palm leaves into amazing shapes and designs that were placed around the beach and they were cutting out red hearts like crazy for the decorations. They had a fire show as well as a few lit paper lanterns that were let go over the ocean. There has been some controversy over the lanterns as the ... read more

We have been in Bangkok many times. There is always something interesting to do in that beautiful city. This time we concentrated on Skhumwith night life, Chinatown and city river channels, Golden Mount which is a temple on a hill walking distance to our hotel is a nice place for city view. We enjoyed the dinners at Chinatown, cheap and delicious seafood. After four days we went to Phuket by night train+ bus. We again preferred to stay at Karon beach but visited Patong , Phuket Town, Kata Noi and Nai Haan beaches. Then we sailed to Lanta via Phi Phi for four days. We took Rok Island and Four Island tours from Lanta. Both were excellent day tours. On March 12th, we continued our sail to the South Andaman stopping at Koh Ngai for two days. ... read more

Festival season, as it is known here, is in full swing and much to Dean's disgust we have had to book ahead. Lots of places are fully booked and we have found ourselves staying in a seafood restaurant on this island in the Trang archipelago. Upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful scenery and clear waters. It's certainly no party island, although new year's eve provided Dean with an opportunity to have a bit of fun. The weather forecast predicted rain and thunderstorms for this area during the four days. The first three days were pretty cloudy, wet and not ideal, although there were breaks where Dean and Eleanor went snorkelling and were able to see some tropical fish. The wind made the water quite choppy for most of our stay, so snorkelling opportunities ... read more

Leaving Koh Lanta we were headed next to Koh Ngai which is a small island south of Koh Lanta and took about an hour to get there via speedboat. We were originally going to get picked up at LaLaanta and then it was only about a 20 minute boat ride but the water was to rough so that meant we had to go back to Saladan Pier at the Northern tip of the island and the boat had to go on the east side of Koh Lanta which was protected from the open ocean and calmer. Koh Ngai is a small island with only a handful of resorts mostly on the east side of the island and there are no cars or scooters and no roads at all. All traveling is done either by walking or ... read more
