September 10th, 2006 Wow Day 9 already and im feeling like travelling was the best decision ive ever made! We planed on one night here in this bustling city of Phitsanulok but seem to still be here 3 days later! We have meet lots of interesting people here, the locals have been especially friendly. Everyone stares at us and shouts ‘Hello’ on the street! There are hardly any Westerners here. The first night we were invited to spend the eveing with a group of Thai teenagers who tried to teach us some Thai and found us very amusing! We also spent an evening with a Thai musician from a loacal bar who was exactly like a 50 year old Thai John Lennon with long white hair. He even did a clog dance for us and ... read more

Early start today to catch the train for Phitsanulok, which is a 6 hour journey. Thankfully the train was quite spacious and not too uncomfortable. I've realised that a cure for my insomnia is to drink loads the night before, we had some good banter with this Canadian and Dutch fella in this bar in our last night in Ayuthya and had a few too many Singha beers, just the four bottles for me, thats all, but the stuff can be quite lethal. Arrived at Phitsanalok at 2.30pm, found a hostel straght away, only 100baht per night. We were pretty shattered all day after the early start so just had a bit of a wander around, had some good food at this bar by the river. We chilled out in the park for a while, wondering ... read more

We also stopped at a ceramic factory where we watched artisans hand painting vases, cups and other porcelain dishes. Their work was gorgeous, so I ended up buying a few things. Maybe it's all a cross-marketing scheme. They get you grossed out by the rat, so you'll be excited to buy when you see the lovely porcelain tableware. Near lunch time, we stopped at the Uthai Thani market. Ole gave each of us a slip of paper with a Thai grocery item listed on it. We then had to take our paper and find the item in the market. I thought ... read more

Hello again, I know it's only been a short time since i sent out my last email, but, i think i could already write a novel as everyday it seems like there's so much cool stuff to write about. I think i last wrote when i was in Bangkok after about 2 days. I left Bangkok saturday (i'm a day ahead of you canadians, so factor that in) because it was getting to be a bit much. There's amazing amounts of cool stuff to see there, and i only saw a small amount of it, but i was really feeling the need to get to somewhere a bit quieter. Bangkok was loud, and busy, and hot, oh, and great, but loud. I'll be back there again, so i can see a few other things when i ... read more
