Today's trail would take me around Daemosan and Umyeonsan mountains, both these mountains are pretty small, I think about 350 metres and 100 and odd metres respectively. I would be walking through Gangnam-gu and Seocho-gu. The trail is 17.9 kilometres long and should take about eight hours. It is rated as a medium difficulty course. It is divided into two section Suseo Station to Yangjae Citizens' Forest, which is ten kilometres and then Yangjae Citizen' Forest to Sandang Station, which is 7.9 kilometres. I came out of Suseo Station at exit six. I followed walked a couple of paces and saw the first stamp box and the start of the trail to my right. I have hiked here a few times before so I knew exactly where I was. This trail starts with a step of ... read more

Iv'e been wanting to do this hike for ages, and I finally had a free Saturday morning on which I could do it. I always pass this area on the bus, and see all the hikers alighting the subway. I took the Shin-Bundang line, to Cheonggysan Station. The Shin-Bundang line is pretty fancy and the trains are driverless, however that works. I came out of exit two, and there were quite a few hikers about. I had read on someone's blog that this hike is very popular, so try to get there early to avoid the queues. However eight thirty was too late in my book as there were a tonne of people already about. It was a sharp contrast to my hike last week, which was largely people free. I though that the trail would ... read more

Gangnam Undergroumd shopping was in Seochogu, so Sandra took me there in her car so we'll save time. At Gangnam, they sold clothes, accessories, furniture, dishes, lighting, blankets, toiletries, framed art and pot plants. There was a different section for every type of product. Although there are many stores, most of them are for women. There are still some for men, but it's hard to find any. One bad thing about Gangnam Underground shopping is that during rush hour, it is super crowded it is very difficult to move to where you want to go. The best time to go is in the afternoon where it's less crowded and you have more space to move around. When buying something, the prices may be already cheap but when it's something slightly more expensive, bargain for it. Asks ... read more

Today was just going a day in the hotel, enjoying the facilities like the indoor pool, the Marquis Thermal Spa, the sauna and the fitness club. The hotel provided a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet at a restaurant called 'The Cafe @ JW' everyday and today I'm going to try all three meals. There were many things to choose, like soups, salads, steaks, sandwiches, noodles, stir-fries etc. The first thing I tried in the hotel was the indoor pool, and may I say, this is one of the most massive pools I've seen. After that i went into the spa. They gave many different treatments like facials, body scrubs, back massage, therapy baths, waxing etc. In my opinion, the therapy bath was amazingly relaxing. All my stress went away afterwards and I felt so much lighter. ... read more

A wicked good time. Partied with some great people. I even met someone from Capitol Hill, Seattle. It's great to meet someone who knows the same bus lines as you. Got to bounce around in my dancing pants and tie dyed sarong (the one I got at Berkfest all those years ago) Idiotape is a revelation in the realm of live electronic bands. Best musical discovery of the festival for me. (Fat beats+basslines) + full on dancing = Happy Me Managed to go the whole festival, until leaving the festival grounds without hearing that f*&^#@! Party Rock song. Here's some pictures to save a few thousand words.... read more

I cannot recall the day when I found out about Seoul Arts Center (SAC) but I imagine it must have come to me from exploring inside the Lonely Planet (LP) South Korea (SK) book we have lying around our apartment. Before leaving Edmonton, I had begun to read about various trips around SK and things to do in Seoul. One of the things I wanted to do most was see a baseball game here in SK to compare it to the baseball games in Japan. Mainly because the fans in Japan are organized with their chants and cheering plus they have synchronized songs they sing and sway to while their teams are playing! It's undoubtedly the best time a fan of any sport can enjoy! With our first baseball game experience already planned for September after ... read more
