I visited the American school with English teachers-members of English studying group in Gun-wi office of Education-on Oct. 3rd, 2007. Because this school is located in US army base camp(Camp George), investigation of security was very strict. after allowing us to enter into the camp, we looked all over the school. An American girl, Daniel, 11th grade student, guided our 4 elementary school teachers. she guided us for gym. at that time, about two dozens of students did physical training with their coach. there are many victory flags on the gym wall. she said that Daegu team is more powerful than any other teams. so, many times, our team gained many wins in many competitions. next, we stopped by computer room where senior students did computer programing-director or computer animation- class with their teacher. From Sep.24, 2007 to Sep.26,2007 was Korean traditional holiday(Choo-soek, Aug.15. on lunar month, the full moon's day). A number of Korean visit their hometown and meet their parents, their relatives. From a couple of weeks before Choo-soek, men must visit their ancestor's tomb and cut the weeds covering tomb with a sickle or cutting machine. It is very hard working. some people cut the weeds from their parents' tomb to grand grand parents' tomb that are deep in the bush. this is one of the Confucianism. Christians don't do that. It is not important to Christians. On Choo-soek day, Confucian(about a quarter of national total population) set a table for their ancestors in the morning, Choo-soek. and pray for thier ancestors and thanks for good harvest this year. this also the Confucianism. I am an elementary school teacher in South Korea. I had started my career as elementary school teacher in Gyeonggi do(Uijungbu, near nothern Seoul city), south Korea, 8 years ago. 5 years ago, I came to Dae-Gu (near my home town , Gunwi) to teach elementary school pupils. I taught my pupils for 2 years in Dae-Gu. 3 years ago, I am re-stationed at Gunwi(my hometown). I have taught elementary school-in my hometown- pupils for 3 years. but on next year, I must return my school in Dae-gu. In Korea, Most of the public elementary school teacher are teachers and officials of Minstry of Education. so they will must chagne their school per 2years~4years as the order of provincial office of Education.
