Holy Kimchi this week has flown by...come to think of it so did last week but I'm not complaining! Lets see...well I didn't actually do much other than work! I got a jump on my report cards and only have about 25 left which is exciting! I set up a table in the one spare room and worked in there as I'm not all that good at concentrating in my room! Claire is starting to show signs of a normal gate again she's excited as are the rest of us! My classes have been alright although I am starting to get pretty bored with a couple of them. I can only take so much of the alphabet apparently! Although maybe I just need to find some different alphabet games to play with them. My kindergarten planted ... read more

Annyong haseyo! Well another week has passed and a weekend of opportunity is on the horizon! I'm hoping that this weekend brings with it the relief from this cold type sickness that I've been suffering from for the past week. It's been one of those ones that moves from one place to another and then back again so it's like sweet it's going away and then I wake up and I'm right back to the first day of throat closage. I shouldn't complain though I mean I could be on crutches like my dear flatmate Claire! She had a little accident outside our place the other night that involved some flat ground and ankle twisting. I've included a photo of what has now become of her foot. She's strong though hobbling around with and without crutches! ... read more

So the week ended with kids remaining crazy and I hope that the trend does NOT continue on Monday because I don't have enough energy, a voice or patience for anymore shenanigans! Claire, Mike and I headed to conversation club but first the 3 of us plus Natasha hit up our favourite little Italian restaurant Little Italya because they were all craving the chicken salad which I apparently just had to try to understand where they were coming from and since I haven't warmed up to Korean food yet I was all for it! We got there and were greeted, seated and served by the Head Chef/Owner (remember the one that Aurora loves and she didn't come with us because she was tired!) He laughed when we wanted 4 salads because it's not really a dinner ... read more

Thank-god the week is almost over! Tomorrow is the full moon so I am a bit terrified! This morning I woke up after a ridiculous night of tossing and turning and trying to breath as I got one of those flash colds that just suddenly hits you and clogs everything. I desperately hopes it goes away before I head to Seoul on Saturday morning otherwise the weekend isn't going to be as great as I am hoping it will be! After work today Claire and I went to E-Mart and then on to the market that is just down the road from our apartment. It's pretty great! Fresh fruit and veggies and just about every kind of meat and fish under the sun! When they told me it was near us I didn't think they meant ... read more

After my mission accomplished, I got back my school in Dae-gu. For last three years, many grade six pupils graduated and many kids got into my school as grade one. besides, many co-workers were changed. Now, there are more teachers who don't know me than teachers who know me. In my school, Dae-gu. I am charge of grade 5. there are two classes in grade 5. my classroom is 5-1. there are 15 boys and 12 girls in my classroom. Most of all are cute, good-natured and friendly to me except some naughty kids. When I worked for Sanseung Elementary school in Gunwi, I taught three or four pupils with co-charging grade 5 and grade 6. so I could concentrated on teaching and talking with my pupils freely in my class. In contrast with the class ... read more

Hello All! Well I haven't been up to much except for teaching. I think I am finally understanding my mothers entire existence! On my way home tonight I realized that the moon was almost full which would explain the kids this week. Even my angels have been little monsters and my monsters have been little devils. Every morning I walk into my kindergarten class to find them all under the table and naturally I play along for a minute "oh no where is my class...I guess they don't want to do science today" and instantly they jump into their chairs. The threat to science or playroom time generally gets them to do anything I want them to muahahaha, evil Megan Teacher! My kindergartens are pretty much the best part of my day though, they are eager ... read more

So I am done my first week of solo teaching and I have to admit I really enjoyed it! I have never been a huge fan of kids but boy do I love MOST of the kids I teach! There are obviously a couple who are completely INSANE but they will hopefully calm done soon! It was also White Day in Korea which is basically Valentines day but only for women. You see on Valentines day women give chocolate to men and on White day men give candy to women. This means that I got a whole bunch of candy from my students, candy that will probably sit on my desk until I leave! It's good stuff don't get me wrong, I just don't like candy that much...I don't understand why chocolate isn't given to women...another ... read more

We made the pizza and it was DELICIOUS! Mike and Natasha arrived around 7:30 and by then Claire had finished the dough and we were waiting for it to rise...and waiting and waiting and waiting! It finally did after many minutes of nail biting! We thought we were going to have some very thin crusts! We hung out in our very tiny kitchen and talked, as is the case any time people gather, glad to see the kitchen gatherings exist outside of Canada! We all get along really well so it's been very easy, I really can't stress enough just how happy I am with the people I find myself in close proximity with here. I mean I have great coworkers a great boss and a pretty great apartment. The best thing about the night was ... read more

Today we had a birthday party for all of the March birthdays. I had 2 students with birthdays, Willy and Lily...yes I laughed too! Basically instead of having the 4th and final period for the morning students we gather in the one large classroom and sing happy birthday to all the children. They wear traditional Korean outfits and the kids chow down on quite a spread bought by the parents. The birthday cakes are INSANE, I remember bringing cupcakes not gourmet creations! The older kids had a chocolate cake and the younger kids had a vanilla cake. Both were immaculately decorated with fruit and shaved chocolate. After school we had a game review for the teachers because everyone plays the games differently. Then we went out for our first official staff dinner at this restaurant where ... read more

Well another day and another dollar! I taught more alone today which was awesome. I feel far more comfortable with the kids when it's just them and I. We did some science today and it was a little taxing, I spent my morning tying knots in string because 95% of the kids refuse to attempt it! I'm actually shocked about my last class which is 8 boys. At first I was like 'oh shit this is going to blow' but they are awesome. I mean a little slow on the uptake the difference between have and has is a tough concept to grasp I guess. I have written a test for them and they will write it on Friday. My one class is made up of kids that have only been learning English for a couple ... read more
