Autumn at TGU
A street at the university. I wish I'dve had my real camera with me. Dearest friends, my sincerest apologies for such a terribly long delay in postings. Many reasons exist. Some good, some not.
Most of early December was very busy for me on an internal level, but not much to blog about. Late December was busy because Daniel was here, and I felt I had no reason to take up lots of time blogging while he was in my midst.
I’ll give a brief overview of stuff as I go along. -Just to put it out there now, I’m writing Daniel and my visit with Aimee to the Ghibli Museum as its own separate post. For one, it’s cool enough to have its own post. For another… I have more than a hundred pictures on this one post as it is. Figure it would be good to split them up.
At the very tail-end of November, I got a great birthday package from Mom and Sarah that included great cereal, mac ‘n cheese, taco stuff, and Kool-Aid mix, among many other things. Awesome. Thank you SO much guys!
The few weeks before Daniel arrived in December included a LOT of time spent in the Bible, a lot of crazy group

Made entirely out of paper. I came out of my last class one day and saw this. birthday parties held at the dorms, and some Christmas shopping.
The few weeks that Daniel was here were amazing. I took him around Higashikurume and showed him my local haunts. I realized a lot of things I had taken for granted in being here. Everything I was showing him how to do (paying for groceries, buying train tickets, little stuff) came so easily to me, and I realized just how much my Japanese had improved since being here. -Granted, not by much, but more than when I first got here. Anyways, we went to Ikebukuro a couple of times and hung out in Sunshine City. We decorated his rental room up for Christmas and talked some with his roommates. We gorged ourselves on all kinds of food. We went to Harajuku and took LOTS of pictures together. We went to Akihabara (basically a geek’s paradise: anime, girls in maid costumes, vintage video games, model kits, and electronics galore) together, which was a first for both of us, actually; I hadn’t been there before he came. On one of our other trips there, I ended up buying a Japanese version of SNES (called “Super Famicon” here), along with an old

From Mom and Sarah! Oh boy ^_^! Mickey Mouse game I used to love when I was little. We spent Christmas season together watching many Christmas movies, shopping for folks back home, and enjoying cool presents together. Christmas night, we went to the dorm for a cool Christmas party. I couldn’t have asked for anyone else to have with me during the holidays here but Daniel.
We spent the night New Year’s Eve with a wonderful missionary family that I had been corresponding with. It was comforting to feel so welcomed in when this was actually the first time we had met one another. Their kids were WAY fun to play with. I played Barbies for the first time in years and actually had a sore throat the next day from talking so high! By the end of the evening, the two little girls were actually jumping up into Daniel’s and my lap and playing with our faces! I can’t wait to meet with them all again. They were so very kind to Daniel and I, and it was a wonderful way to spend New Year’s Eve.
Daniel and I also went with Aimee to the Ghibli Museum, which, as I said before, I will

It was really hard seeing Daniel leave. Probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life, let alone here in Japan. The first week after he left was particularly rough, but… It went by surprisingly fast. And it’s much better now. Time’s funny like that. And the Lord is also very gracious. That makes for a dynamic duo. I’m so very glad I got to have Daniel here at all… It was a precious gift for me, and the time he spent here with me was probably the best of time I’ve spent here yet.
There hasn’t been too much the whole month of January to post about. It’s been pretty hectic, because it’s basically my end of semester. There have been (and are still) lots of tests, papers, and presentations. And tomorrow, I’m heading out with my music class for a field-trip to a Kabuki show. Should be really good.
In any case, I apologize again for such a LATE

By mid-February, I’ll have a couple months off for break in between semesters. I hope to do some traveling, perhaps even to Kyoto with Aimee!
By the way, I wanted to thank ALL of those who made my holiday season with Daniel so wonderful. Everything sent to me was so very much appreciated, from the Christmas cards to the presents to the food to.. anything else I left out! I can't begin to say how much everything meant to me. It made being so far away from home seem not that far at all.
My fondest love to all of you, and I’ll see you next post.
