Without my wanting it, my time is starting to come to an end. I am almost done with all my final papers and test. I just have one paper left, one kanji quiz left, and 2 tests left. It is going to be strange coming back to America. I have adapted to the Japanese way of life, and I fear that it will leave a permanent impact on my life. I wonder how many things I say/wear/do will be considered strange when I return. I wonder how Western food will taste when I return. I have gone 5 months with having McDonald's once, only out of curiosity, and KFC for Thanksgiving. Even the Denny's here is completely different from America. The change in people will be major as well. I am so used to the extreme ... read more

So winter break is over. We are in our last 2.5 weeks... tear... Winter break was pretty awesome! On the 23rd, I spent the day with Akemi, we went shopping and ate lunch together. It was a lot of fun! Then Yuki and I went to the train station and she left for Uchihara to go shopping, and I went to Tokyo. I walked around Ueno by myself for a few hours (I was so proud of myself!!) and then finally met up with Eri around 11:30. On the 24th, we went to Asakusa to the temple, Ginza, where a hat, a wool knitted hat cost over 300 dollars!!, then to Odaiba where Fuji T.V. is located, and lastly, to Shinjuku. It was sooooo much fun. The morning on the 25th, I came back to Mito ... read more

So, two more classes left before winter break!! One today, and one on Monday. YAY!! I don't know how often I will be able to update because I don't know when I am going to be going to the computer lab, but I will try my hardest. This week has been a bit rough. I have had tons to do, especially MC'ing the CHristmas party yesterday. I became decorator, organizer and MC of the party in a very short time. But apparently, it went really well!! YAY! I was exhausted at the end, I totally don't remember much of it since the whole time I was running around doing everything, but everyone seemed to have had a good time. At least, that's what I have been told. Tomorrow, Yuki, Emi and Satomi are coming to my ... read more

So, this weekend was soooo much fun. Friday night, I went to dinner with Cho-san. Ate sushi and enjoyed good company. A lot of fun. Saturday, I went to lunch with jie jie (eina) and walked around with her for a little while. Afterwards, Mikako came to the dorm and we watched a movie and hung out for a couple hours with Hunter and Ryuta. Sunday Hunter and I went with Endo-san (the staff member who took us on the Mito history day thing, with the tea ceremonies) for coffee and then to a Japanese dance performance. OMG!! Amazing! I really have no words to discribe it. Just the feelings I got from the music and the movement was incredible! Halfway through the performances, they served us lunch, wich was Japanese rice and meat with vegetables ... read more

So the weather is getting really cold. And it seems to still be raining even thought the rainy season is over. Even my Japanese teacher is saying that this is rare and we are lucky. So the 5 day break was really nice. Kashima was a lot of fun. If it wasn't for my friends, it would have been really boring. At Takarazuka grave (in Ibaraki town) some of us did some really silly pictures. Then we went to an old house where we all started playing house, haha. Next to a Buddhist temple. So much gold, OMG!! Took pics of all the "treasure." Lunch was at a really neat place, kinda like a park, where more silly pictures were to be had. Lastly to Kashima Jinja (shrine). It was actually really neat. I got to ... read more

So we have Mon, Tues and Wed off!! Hurray. The funny thing is (yes I know the Japanese don't celebrate Thanksgiving but this holiday is some kind of day of thanks holiday) we have class when it is actually Thanksgiving. The exact opposite in America (class Mon, Tues, Wed and off Thurs and Fri). Oh well. Tomorrow is the Kashima trip. Should be interesting if not a bit boring. All my Nihon-jin friends (Japanese friends) say they find Kashima and the places we are stopping by on the way are extremely boring and are only going to save us and spend time with us. Sunday is going to be amazing!!! First, I am going to Mito Eki (station) by myself. Haven't had the courage to do that yet. I am going in the morning to meet ... read more

I posted some pics up. I still have more but it takes soooooo much time to post pics. It gets frustrating. So, another Japanese test passed. With a B!! So I have gotten an A and a B on the tests. But that means there is only one test left. Our time is half way over... I'm So DEPRESSED!!! I never want to leave Japan. I wish to stay here FOREVER!! Especially with my best friend Marie!!!!!! Futago POWER!!! (futago=twin, she is my twin, the best twin in all the world!)... read more

Sorry for the delayed update. This week has been an extremely busy one!! Um, the other week was Halloween. I dressed up like Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd while my friend Ryo went as Sweeney Todd. I did both our make-up and we looked AMAZING! We walked in and all of the sudden, there were flashes going off in our faces because they wanted to get pictures of us. Then I sang while he played guitar. It was the first time I ever sung in front of people while not doing Karaoke. I was soooooooooo incredibly nervous! But it turned out awesome! Then I went to dinner with Noriko, Diana, and Marie. We had so many weird looks. But it was so much fun. Last Saturday was uneventful, however Sunday I got to do a lot ... read more

So this weekend was SOOOO much fun. Saturday, I was at the Speech contest the whole day, but it was actually a blast. We got to talk to people the whole time and then listen to some pretty interesting speeches and talk to more people and eat. Tons of fun. After the speech contest, I went to dinner with Marie and her Aunt at a REALLY nice Japanese restaurant. The one where you have your own room and there are at least 10 courses! So much food. Luckily each plate was pretty small. But ti was sooo much fun! Even with the special event (making it half off) was still over $20. Sunday, I spent the whole day at the festival with Tabo for most of the time, and met up with Pumpkin (Mikako) and Mayu ... read more

So this weekend is the school festival. Today I am stuck watching/helping with the high school speech contest and tonight I am eating dinner with Marie and her aunt, should be lots of fun. But tomorrow, I am free to do everything at the festival, which I plan on doing! My roommate, Nozomi, is doing a Sato Ceremony (Tea Ceremony). Definitely going to stop by there, and I have to get some of Suzuki's baseball club's Yakisoba. I am so excited, I can't wait!!... read more
