Po powrocie z Rainbow Gathering pokrecilem sie jeden dzien po Bangkoku, bylem w calkiem fajnym zoo. Mam nawet jakies zdjecia moze kiedys wkleje. Klawucha. Dojechalismy. Wysiedlismy. Nawiazala sie pogawedka z panem. Powiedzialem ze ... read more

Ignore all the crappy spelling and grammar so much time so little to write. Wait! Reverse that! Kolkata is absoloubtly amazing and so contrasting to australia. It is not scary as in a sense of personal safety discomfort but it is scary in the sense of the poverty and the issues surrounding this such as begging and the value of the indian rupee. The beggars range from small 3 year old children to mothers with babies ( which they have bought or borrowed and have been drugged as a ploy). it is hard to say no to these people but you must so you are not swamped with demands for money and most of the time they money doesnt even go to them. I have only given to 1 beggar; a man with one leg couldnt ... read more

Well right now I'm waiting in Kolkata for my flight to Chennai. Since I last wrote I have done quite a bit of traveling. In the afternoon after my previous post we (myself, Bryce and Jasper) went down to the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center whose mission (drumroll please...) is to help Tibetan Refugees get work and support themselves. I know you were all shocked. On the way down we ran into this girl who told us it wasnt that great, but since we were almost to the bottom of the hill we might as well go. Boy was she wrong. This place was so peaceful and awesome. There were refugees doing a variety of tasks - knitting, carpentry, and all sorts of handicrafts. We bought a bag of candy at the store there and shared it ... read more

Yesterday evening I was waiting in the lounge outside my room for a while and reading my lonely planet to figure out where I was going to go when another American wandered into the hotel. He had just arrived by jeep and so he and I met up with another kid that he had taken the jeep up to Darjeeling with. He and I are quite alike, so weve had some interesting discussions. Were both really into photography so we have had a lot of interesting discussions centering around photographic things. I convinced him to come with me this morning to Tiger Hill so that I would have someone to go with with the carrot of being able to use my tripod with his beast of a medium format camera. So today I awoke at 3 ... read more

Wow..... This place is awesome. The people are all so friendly, Ive had a lot of people start conversation with me, including a 9 year old girl who was so cute and spoke very very good english. One of the guys that I was talking to said that the people in Darjeeling are very well educated , and this certainly seemed to be the case to me, but there arent any jobs. So people all try to go to Calcutta or America. It is very expensive for Indians to get work visas in America - 10 Lakhs rupees ($200). plus the flights and everything else.... Getting here was quite an adventure. On the flight I met this guy who was from Darjeeling and he said that I could tag along with him from Bagdogra (where my ... read more

So I just reached for my mouse to start emailing...and let out a small girly shriek when I realised there was a mouse sat on it..... I'm used to mice (India has much...wildlife...), just not sat on my mouse. thats all... just thought I should give the world the mental image of a mouse sat calmly on a mouse. ... read more

So.... last time I ended up at the Golden Temple. A week later, after many goodbyes, we left Palampur, and got on a train to Agra (via Delhi). Getting off at Delhi at 4am, someone managed to steal Kate's handbag, complete with wallet, camera, passport, etc, etc, etc. As it was 4am we carried on to Agra (after wrestling with the police for a statement). Saw the Taj (though it was really overcast, so a bit dissapointing). Next morning Abhey (our camp manager) bribed us onto the early morning train to Agra, which then involved 3 hours of sitting next to 3 members of one family, and having all the other members of the family brought along to come have a look - including a 5yr old, the cutest baby ever and the grandmother who sat ... read more

Today I am writing this from an internet cafe/whatever you want to call it in Kolkata India. Before I divulge into the details of this madness of India (I know you are all laughing of those who have been here when you reflect on how the first moments felt arriving here) I will explain why we are not in Delhi! Yesterday we were to get on our plane in the early morning at 2am to Delhi. I had booked my ticket already in BKK but Jen had not. We went to get her's yesterday and for some reason "it is not going today"... So we wanted to get the hell out of BKK and start our adventure so with much anticipation we asked, well where can we go today in India. It is 11:30am at this ... read more

Nejaci nespokojeni obcane nepalu nam napred prohodili prednim sklem autobusu sutr a pak traktory zahradili cestu dokud se nedohodnou s vladou. Hotel v Katharbyte byl jako z hororu, postel pripominala prkno svou mekosti, zaludecni stavy predchozich ucastniku byli hodne citit a pod okny vecer stekali psy a rano troubily autobusy.Me se vyplatila poprve moskytyjera, kluky navic komari bavili celou noc.Jesterka na stene dokreslovala ubohost mista.V 6hod jsme byli na znackach pred hotelem a po prekroceni hranice jsme vzali jeep do Dargellingu.Po ceste jsme koupili listek na vlak a 80km taxikem ... read more
