I am just about to embark on a wonderful journey to India and Nepal for the winter. Usually I prefer to spend the winter months freezing out in the snow but not this one. I hope you all enjoy my posts and pictures. Wishing you a wonderful winter.

I am now sitting in an internet dungeon in Pokhara after completing the two week circuit of the majestic Annapurna range. I am clean now and my feet are finally recovering. My legs feel strong and my body feels like I really actually carried a 40lb pack up to 5440 metres! So last night I did yoga on the rooftop of our family guesthouse at the shanti end of the lake and got to watch the sun go down. Reflecting on the last two weeks has been amazing for my heart. I met up with Drew from Revelstoke (a friend of [View Full Entry]

This blog has become a little bit of my diary so I am trying to make an effort to keep up to date. So in a year from now I can remember where I was, with all the feeling, smells, colours, smiles, tears, sounds and longing to go back. We miss India deeply! Nepal is another chapter but I should write about the last three weeks in India. I think I left off in Pushkar when Eneko and I arrived. We found ourselves a beautiful Shanti room at the lotus on the lake in Pushkar. To our wonderful surprise there was [View Full Entry]

Sometimes I have to wonder where I fit in this whole world. You get used to setting your feet out into places of beauty and the unknown, it's exciting and you learn so much about the world. You have many conversations under stars, over chai, in busy street corners about the world and evaluate the culture you live in and the world around you-where do I belong? The east or the west... Time passes so fast when you are travelling. It was late in the afternoon when I realized today all I had to eat was drink chai and have great [View Full Entry]

We finally escaped Arranbal...Goa really sucked us in for a good week in a half. Lazy and wonderful to be in the sun and to swim in the ocean. Kims friend Micheal and the family that he has created here in India was extremely welcoming and amazing...it was very hard to leave... but we did it and now we are in Hampi. This amazing place in a crazy setting of volcanic upheaval filled with boulders, temples and rice fields. Our first day here we went to this fresh water lake(resorvoir) it felt like home to slice through clean refreshing non salty [View Full Entry]

It Fits Asia » India » Uttarakhand » Rishikesh
At first i wasnt sure about this place, crazy, polluted, noisy sensory overload India. Now though my heart and soul are starting to become very attached the experience of this place. Every nuance is starting to breath through me. Its like i have finally worn myself in and India now fits. I would not trade anything in the world for being here right now.!!! The sound the Atari ( a loud speaker system that plays for one hour every morning and night of Indian music, drumming and chanting ) which still gets on my nerves once in awhile, the praying, horns [View Full Entry]

eeeeek! We really love this place we want to pinch ourselves! Yesterday we finally arrived in Rishikesh, which is a few hours north of Delhi. We saved ourselves the city adventure and took the train straight here. "straight here" wasn't so fast that's forsure. After a freezing cold night on the train, and 10 young loud Indian boys shouting, laughing and smoking in our sleeping faces all night we arrived to the heart beat of yoga. The Ganga here is something beautiful. It's clear blue and there's rapids and it reminds me of the rivers at home in Canada. Almost so [View Full Entry]

lately we have started to think of the things we need to be more thankful for at home. you start to think of these things when you wake up puking (as i did two days ago, my health has been so on and off, well for both of us really) and every day is so hard to tell how far you will be able to venture from the nearest toilet facilities. i was thinking about this concept on the toilet the other day...how the "asian" style may bring you closer to your own movements of your body. jen's not so convinced [View Full Entry]

Today was a blessed morning. Nice leisure tea with Jennifir and our wonderful friend Trace has graced us with her presence from Revelstoke! How cool is that, we are hanging out in Mcleod Ganj together - definately made our Christmas day. Yesterday evening was Christmas eve so we spent it with a bunch of other foreigners and had a nice meal and good conversation. I am definately not feeling the wave of emotions I do normally in my Canadian home at this time of year. I had a mass of very touching emails from home and some very special poems that [View Full Entry]

It has been a week since our arrival in Mcleod Ganj-the home of the Dalai Lama. We thought we would be blessed to see him while we were here, but apparently this is not so. He is a busy man! We have been spending our days having leisure teas, nice conversations with people we meet to discuss politics and religion or whatever may have you... We have been hiking almost everyday exploring in the mountains around this area. It is absolutely stunning. Hiking into small villages of houses made of stone. Many of them are abandoned as this is the winter [View Full Entry]

Yesterday was our last day in Delhi before we headed up north to McCleod Ganj-we feel like kissing the ground here. As usual I need to speak of our experience in Delhi because it helped mend out hearts towards all the poverty. We were told about this trust salaam balaak in Delhi by a friend of ours Markus we met in Varanassi. This organization has schools and housing for children coming off of the street. We did a something called "city walk" and we recommend it to anyone staying in Delhi. We met our guide at the Delhi train station to [View Full Entry]
