Elections are on and this is one example of what happens in India. One guy up for consideration has a Guru that in this case, just happens to be Swamiji. So although the candidates are not allowed to feed their supporters, he charters about 25 big buses and moves somewhere between 5-10 000 people along in these buses and they just happen to be in the area where his Guru has an Ashram. So they stop in and receive prashad... gift or blessing from the Guru, like when you get the blessed bread at Church... so they got a lunch inside the Ashram (even though it was actually prepared lunch boxes that had come in the underneath of the buses) so it wasn't officially given by the candidate. The big money spending on election campaigns continue, ... read more

We have been swimming in the fountain in the middle of the kitchen eating area and enjoying Easter eggs. The Easter bunny even found us here in the desert! Exams are on now. We only go to school on the days we have exams. Cal looked at his fingernails this morning and said “Look at these Mum”. He also asked “Why do you think they look like that?” I said they looked great and were so clean because he'd had a swim AND a shower yesterday. He said "I wonder if I can keep them like this until we see Daddy again?” I said I didn't think they'd stay clean for that long so he decided he better have another swim today! For now it’s in the fountain in the middle of the kitchen eating area. ... read more

I saw a snake on the way to school. Someone found a scorpion behind the alter at the Bhakti Sagar. We are getting ready for exams at school. We are celebrating Navaratri, the start of summer. It’s a 9 day festival event and we’ve had a few days off school for it. Today is the last day of Navaratri and we had a fire ceremony. ... read more

We have been in India for a few festivals now. In India they have a holy Trinity but it is a bit different to the Christian one. They have The Creator, The Destroyer (of evil)/Liberator and the Protector who looks after the earth after it's been created. Shiva is the destroyer/liberator so they have a festival to Shiva once a year here. When it was Shivaratri, Mum and Dad stayed up all night for it. I stayed up for some and then woke up early to see the end of it. There is usually lots of food at Indian festivals but this one was fasting before and lots of eating after. There is usually good sweets too. Grandpa would love it! Holi festival was another festival we had. We went to Jodhpur when it was close ... read more

I’m having fun at my new school. One of my teachers gives me a toffee most days and sometimes sultanas or rock lollies, that look like rocks. They are white and you have to crunch them. I’m teaching my class English, some art tricks and one and two handed cartwheels. They are teaching me Hindi. I’m exploring lots around here and making awesome things. Someone in the workshop made me a bow and arrow set. I have a quiver to carry it around in. Today I was dressed up like Robin Hood and my bow broke but Mum fixed it. We went to look at the cows (there are about 80 cows here at the Ashram) and some of them have big horns that are painted. The cows were being milked and we saw some of ... read more

Namaste (Hello). We came here by plane. We arrived in Delhi and went to a big mosque and some rickshaw rides around the city. I like the Gandhiji Museum a lot. There was a spinning wheel that Callum and I had a play with. Gandhiji wrote a lot about truth, love and how animals are scared just before they are killed We tried to see the Red Fort but we couldn’t get in. I now live in India at Jadan Ashram. There are four dogs here. Two stay behind our building called the White House. The dogs are are called Cher and Chita. The other two are at the OM Ashram which is another part still being built. It is a big building that will be in the shape of a massive OM. At the Ashram ... read more

We navigated our way on the local buses to arrive at the Ashram which is just near a very small town called Pali. We crossed a fair bit of desert type country and saw many camels and a few deer. I'll have to work on getting some pictures of these. Ashram means ‘welcome to come and do something’ meaning something for yourself and also something for others. The current focus of the Guru here (who is currently on a world peace tour as he also has many followers in Eastern Europe and a big set up in Vienna. He will visit Australia in April) is to meditate on and solve your own inner conflicts. As a means to working at effectively communicating with others, of course you must first understand yourself. So you can imagine there ... read more
