Current Mood: Numb Panoramic images are from the rear of Taj Mahal and the tombs of Akbar the great. Well well well… What can I say?! India can be a country that can at times be very comfortable (in-between bathroom breaks) leaving you feeling extremely happy, some saying “enlightened”. India Can also be a country that can absolutely break your spirit (During bathroom rushes) making you curse the people around you and I think, people may forgive me for saying “I wish I had never paid the government the fee to visit this country”. This feeling doesn’t always last but I have to say that a lot of time in India, the bad times can outweigh the good. Without too much complaint I will try to give you a mish-mash explanation. When it’s good it is ... read more

Reached a place prominently called as land of gods: dharamshala. I heard a lot about this place that its spiritually rich and serene. And i thought that this should be my next destination. So i started from delhi. You can opt for a cheaper and economical mode of transport which is hptdc buses. Or buses affiliated to hptdc. Himachal pradesh tourism department corporation. One can rest in bus and just enjoy the scenic beauty of passer by places. And also you can observe the living style of locals here. Or you can opt for private taxis which is expensive and takes the same time as of bus that is 12 hours or may be an hour less but you get the luxury of stopping anywhere u like. But when u are going to land of gods you ... read more

So arrive in Delhi at 11:30pm due to the train from Agra being 5 fucking hours late! At this point I'm dreading having to spend a night on the streets because the guest houses might be closed, luckily I met a Brazilian girl on the train and just went to where she was staying, decent room, clean, my own shower and toilet 300rs, the shower doesn't work however and the guy refuses to lower the price to that of a room with no shower...no matter, I don't think they've realised you get wifi in this room! Flicking through the guide book for Delhi, and there's just the usual bollocks to go and do, more looking at old shit. Not interested at this point, I've seen enough old shit that more or less all looks the same, ... read more

Day Two Did you know India was once known as "The Golden Bird"? Is that because of how rich the country once was or could it be because of its culture. Perhaps because the festive atmosphere of the land makes it so rich in beauty. New Delhi is just a small part of India but there is so much to experience, so much to encounter, and so much to observe. Unfortunately, our time was limited. We couldn't possibly do everything in a day! So Donna and I decided to hire a tour guide, Raj. We thought that it was best to take Raj with us because through his help we were easily able to overcome the language barrier among mostly Hindi speaking citizens and be able to do many things like renting a car and picking ... read more

In these asocial, disconnected and cynical times, when people don’t meet but tweet and when you determine your popularity by counting how many people have clicked ‘like’ on your latest Facebook post of the sun rising over the orange clothesline on your balcony whereupon hang your frayed and faded grey underwear, it is important to appreciate the value of environments that facilitate personal, meaningful, two-way interactions with fellow humans —even if they are complete strangers. And no-one’s better than the Indian Railways in providing such an environment. We appreciated this on a recent overnight train journey from Delhi, the City of Kinks, to Udaipur, the City of Kings. We reached Old Delhi station with minutes to spare, charged madly towards the platform where the ... read more

Geo: 28.6137, 77.1834We were up early today to organize our luggage for our flight back to Delhi. In the morning before our flight we enjoyed a cooking class. We each had a chance to prepare one of the dishes we would be enjoying for our lunch. The whole experience was great fun and the food was delicious. Jim took lots of notes, so he will be cooking up a storm when we get home. Then it was off to the Udaipur airport where we caught our 1 1/2 hour flight back to Delhi on Air India. Taxis met us at the airport to take us to our Delhi hotel. We had a few minutes to freshen up before going out for dinner. At dinner we thanked our guide for his outstanding job. Once back at the ... read more

Located near the Safdarjung airport, this tomb happens to be an important attraction among the top picks of Delhi tour. This is a display of incredible architectural buildings of the Mughal reign. Made up of marble and red sandstone, it is believed to the last masterpiece in the waning Mughal architecture of Delhi. It has many buildings viz: the mosque, Safdarjung tomb , Char bagh(Mughal Garden) , Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), Jangli Palace (sylvan palace), ASI office/ Badshah Pasand Palace (Kings favorite) and the water channel that connects the various tombs. One of the main observations includes the main entrance which is double-storeyed and most of the tombs have multi-chambered pavilions. This is also described as the garden tomb as the premises has four gardens located in the four corners of the tomb. T... read more

Travelogue to Dharamshala To reach Dharamshala there is 24x7 bus service from ISBT Kashmiri Gate from where you can book a Volvo, Ac, luxury, deluxe and semi-deluxe bus. We started our journey at night 9:20 by boarding a bus from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. My elder brother booked the ticket in advanced from website of Himachal Roadways. Earlier we thought it would be deluxe non-ac bus but actually it was an AC coach. Afterwards, we began our journey in bus from Delhi to Dharamshala. It took us total 12 hours to reach Dharamshala in between bus stopped at three points for refreshment first at night around 12 pm on highway dhaba, secondly at some mid way and lastly at point where the actual hill start for about 4 hours continuous. To Ankur, Kyla and Tom I don't think you realise how much of yourself you have given to the group. I am confident that because of the heart and soul that you have shared; the experience would has been far superior than could have been.... If not for you ...... The experience would not have been so amazing xxx Important connections Jude... The latecomer to the group. I described Jude to the others, and she certainly didn't disappoint! She held her own court without my support, always offered mature, valid, and valued points of opinion in any conversation. Kyla.... We have both come so close to; we share so many, morals, expectations, and beliefs. It is hard to imagine the we have originated from the opposite ends of the earth ..... And me, 28 years earlier!
