Touchdown at Cochin International Airport at noon on our maiden trip to God’s Own Country. Embarked on a long drive to gorgeous hill station, Munnar in Idukki district of Kerala. The winding highway was opening new green vistas at every turn. The car commenced its scenic ascent in the misty environment. The temperature started dropping rapidly and the chill in the weather was the first sign of our arrival at the picturesque elevation. The view of pristine valleys in the spice scented cool air made the journey most enjoyable. There were many Beer & Wine Parlors en route, with colourful boards beckoning tourists. Kerala: A diverse state of India, that gives you a wide and various options to visit. The greeneries, the waterfalls, backwaters, mountains, hills and curvy roads.... You get to see all in Kerala. Munnar: A part of Kerala, which widely attracts the people from all over the world. The beauty of Munnar has always wooed people and pulled them to towards it. The green tea plantations, the mist clad mountains and hills, waterfalls, lakes are being some of the main reasons. That is reason why we wanted to explore the place. It was 3 days trip. Out of the blue, Mayank sent out a mail saying Sharat approved a plan for a Kerala trip and cheap flight tickets were available for the same. As with most people by the time everyone was done adding people into the mail thread and looking at Rahu and Ketu Kala for deciding whether to go on the trip or not, the tickets disappeared and it was thought that the plan was cancelled. But due to persistence of a few, the sparks reignited and the plan was back on track. Sulbha had found Sonam to give her company and Anuvrat had also decided to join us for the trip. I had many backpacking experiences both in India and abroad but this one is special for many reasons. First, I traveled in a Bus instead of a Car. Second, this time instead of wife and children I preferred to go with friends. In last many years, especially since I got married this was my first trip without my wife accompanying me. Another reason leaving my wife and children back home was, as this was much of a business trip. We, gang of friends decided to go by bus and explore the place as well as some business opportunities. Day 4 Today allowed for a late start. Very exciting .... Santa came this morning; we all got chocolate! Including Najim. Today, as it is Xmas eve, I am wearing my Santa tee shirt. I stick out like a sore the... Lol. Although it is bringing a smile to others.... After an enjoyable breakfast, we set off at ten thirty for 90km drive to Munnar. We were all very appreciative of Nicola's efforts to enhance our long journey by downloading the top 100 Xmas songs for us to have playing throughout the journey. On the way we stopped at an amazing viewpoint, but sadly it was still overcast, so you couldn't take photos, that didn't take away how beautiful it was, the only drawback is that I can't share it!
