We spontaneously decided to sop at the Lassen Volcanic National Park. After quite a bit of climbing we reached the park. The park is a living proof of all the volcanic activity going on in this area. You can see fumaroles, holes in the gound that let steam out from the boiling water underneath. You can actually hear the water bubbling inside the holes. All that activity makes you wonder if some day the whole thing will come alive and erupt again. In contrast to all this heat and steam, about 20 minutes into our car ride through the park, we ended up seeing several large patches of snow. So we unexpectedly ended up playing snowballs on the 4th of september... quite unusual for us at this time of the year :-) Also on the agenda were a couple pristine lakes with water so clear you almost couldn't see it!

Did you cook a raclette in the holes after doing snow balls?... ;o) I wish I could have seen the snow in Moscow before leaving but it's gonna be hard, I leave at the end of the week and it's Indian Summer at the moment... So I enjoy the snow on your pictures!
