RPI This blog is for the ones who attended RPI back then... a long long time ago... We stopped in Troy for a day to revisit familiar places and restock on overpriced school gear. Troy actually has a bit more life to it compared to 5 years ago. The addition of a beautiful new building and the construction of another helps. I won't say it is the liveliest place but it is better. For those who were there, look at the pictures and remember the good old times ... read more

New York City Baby! It always feels good to be in New York City. It's lively, colorful, full of surprises. We visited the staple places such as the Statue of Liberty and Times Square among other things. We also made our way to ground zero. Not much happening there as far as rebuilding or doing anything with the site. It is a known fact that there are many internal battles between investors and the families of the people who died. However, being there and thinking about what went on during that time sends shivers through your body. May such a thing never happen to anyone on this planet. We went to see a Broadway show called "The Producers". It was an excellent show with truly awesome decors and choreography. The show was followed by an excellent ... read more

Cape Cod is one of the famous vacation places for people living in the large cities of the east coast. We arrived late afternoon to our B&B. It was a nice house owned by a couple from Montreal. Our dinner recommendation for tonight was the "Impotent Oyster" which to us was really funny. We had been wondering all day how an oyster could be impotent as the legend says that oysters are as good as the blue pill . Well, it turned out that it was not "impotent" but "impudent" which does not make any more sense either. The food however was excellent and we ate the biggest lobster in our lives. We had never thought that we would hardly be able to finish it. The lobster also came with interesting sweet clams that were actually ... read more

Boston was fun and experiencing the history behind this old city was a great learning experience. We did all the obligatory things such as the Quincy Market, Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street etc... We also did something that ended up being very interesting: the freedom trail. This is a trail that meanders through the city for about 2.5-3 miles, taking you to significant monuments and buildings. The trail is marked by a red line on the sidewalks and is a breeze to follow. You can see several pictures taken on the way. We also went to the Harvard campus which is beautiful, however full of overly smart and nerdy people ! The students there hardly smile and their skin tone is whiter than a triple bleached bed sheet. However, the campus is impressive and inspiring. As we ... read more

After an uneventful crossing of the border from Canada to the US we made our way to Bar Harbor, Maine. Bar Harbor is a quaint town with plenty of little shops and restaurants. We didn't stay as long as we should have so there isn't that much to describe. However, the next day we went to Acadia national park and spent some time there. We woke up to a typical fall Maine day, drizzling rain and plentiful fog. As we clibed the road in the park, the visibility became so bad that we weren't able to enjoy fully what the park has to offer. In particular the fall foliage that already was wonderful in foggy conditions, would have been breathtaking on a sunny day. We saw several waterfalls and sweeping views of the ocean. Portland, Maine: ... read more

We arrived in Quebec City in the late afternoon. Prior to my arrival I did not have big expectations for this city, however I was proven wrong. Quebec City is a quaint little town. There are not so many attractions, however this city gives you a certain feeling. It seemed to be a bit more French than Montreal. We ate a crepe restaurant which was my first time at an exclusive crepe restaurant. The next day we woke and set out to tour the city. We walked to get our croissant and latte and headed through the city walls. We first visited Le chateau Frontenac. This castle is now a hotel and has a view of the water. We then took the incline down to all of the little streets with all of the little boutiques. ... read more

We arrived to Europe away from Europe today. Montreal is actually the perfect blend of American and European culture. On top of that everyone speaks french so it makes it even more "exotic"! The first thing we explored was part of the underground city. You can basically live underground if need be. Everything you would want from malls, to banks to flower shops to transportation can be found underground. Most of the modern part of Montreal's downtown can be walked underground. This is of course due to the frigid winters they have. The work it must have taken to make this happen must have been a daunting task. Our first night there, we had an excellent meal in the old city which was extremely well preserved and then had a drink at a hip bar close ... read more

We made it to Toronto and now can take pictures again!!!! Toronto was a delightful city full of cool architecture, history and young people. It has some european/french flavor to it but I would say probably more of a British / American mixture. We went up one of the world's tallest structures, the CN tower. It was worth the climb. It is quite high and a glass floor awaits you when you reach the top. You can then look down to your feet and see all the way down to the ground. We then took a tour bus in the hopes of learning more about the city. It turned out to be like a school bus ride where we got minimal explanation and stopped avery 5 minutes to drop people off or pick them up. We ... read more

Sorry again... still no pictures for you guys. We promise to correct this situation as soon as possible! Well, we got an awesome hotel deal for Chicago so we are staying in luxury for 2 days! We have a central location and a great room at the Hilton. It feels good to be pampered sometimes! We did the architectural boat tour of Chicago which was a great way to learn about the city and view it from the river. Chicago is a true architectural marvel. Old and new, all buildings fit together extremely well and have a lot of thought behind their design...and also cost more money than anyone can imagine to live in. We walked to the piers and the millenium park. The millenium park has 2 cool features: a fountain that has a huge ... read more

Once again unfortunately we do not have any pictures of the badlands.... sorry. Although we did not spend much time in the park due to a rain and wind storm the park was extremely different than any other park we have seen to date. Although the colors of the Badlands were comparable to the Petrified forest (see previous blog) the landscape was much different. They remind me of drip sand castles you make at the beach tinted with hues of red, orange and pink. We also made a stop at the Corn Palace in South Dakota. The Palace is decorated each year with different pieces of artwork all made from corn. At that point we decided we were through with the midwest and needed some civilization. We therefore headed to Chicago. We spent the night in ... read more
