Gold fish!!!
Boys enjoy watching the fish in the paddling pool!! It has been a really busy first week in China!
We went for our medical on Monday.........NEVER AGAIN! It was not an experience I would like to do again. We had a nice Chinese lady that came with us to help fill out all of the many forms. Our fantastic driver also came with us to help. It was a busy waiting room, we felt and looked like a fish out of water!! Then we followed the lady out to a very long and busy corridor, she pointed to me to enter a room. I went in and was faced with my worst fear! Blood test room was first. The lady did not look gentle and proved me right! She couldn't find my veins and ended up just sticking needle in after a few hard slaps to my arm! It went a little white and said to Andy I am either going to pass out or be sick........I showed my self up good and proper!! Sick first then flopped! once I was back on my feet and sending Andy first from now on...we had an ECG, blood pressure and weight taken. We had to have an eye test, instead of
a,b,c, etc letters to read it was an E which then had turned to be round the wrong way, upside down etc. I could not understand any of this but I passed!!!! We then had to give a wee sample - Oh My God toilet was a whole new experience! Then a chest xray to round it off. I couldn't get out of that place quick enough!!!
We picked up our apartment keys in the afternoon and slowly moved all of our things from the hotel to our new home. We have 3 lovely sized bedrooms, small kitchen, washing room, 2 bathrooms and a dinning/ living room. The area is close to shops and not far from Matthew school. It is really quiet here which is surprising as we are quite close to the very busy main road. We have a nice little park and a tennis and basket ball court - a nice space for the boys to run!! And boy, do they need that.
Matthew started school on Wednesday - Teda International School. He did so well and looked very smart! There are only 18 children in his class and they all seemed very pleased to
First day
Matthew's first day at TES! meet Matthew! The second day was not so good, we had a few tears but I am sure once he makes a couple of friends and gets settled he will be fine. The early morning start is going to take some getting used to!! It was valentines day on Friday and Matthew came home with lots of yummy gifts from the children in his class ( a nice little boost for him!) He is not impressed with the amount of home work! He has reading, spellings and Maths to do every night and a spelling test every Friday! Plus write about his weekend to take in Monday morning!! (don't moan again Staplehurst year 2 Chipmunks!!!)
We have found our way to the supermarkets.......it is going to take some getting used to, finding what and how to cook!!!! Gone through 8 different types of bread to try and find something that tastes a little something like home!! It also takes a long time getting around the supermarket with the boys - everyone wants to stop and talk to them or touch their hair!!
Andy started work on Thursday. it was nice to have him home at 5.15pm instead of
Teda
Sunrise 6.30pm like in England but he does have to start at 6.30am!
We had a lovely Valentines Evening.......We got a taxi to Macdonalds which was a fun ride to say the least!! But we got there in the end with lots of pointing!!! Then we stood outside for an hour watching the fantastic fire crackers and fireworks for the Chinese New Year. The whole sky was alight with colour. William loved it and didn't know where to look first!!
I think the strangest thing I saw this week was in a large shopping centre. We were looking at the toys in this shop and found they had a huge sandpit in the middle of the shop that they use as a play area for kids to use but it was the gold fish in the large paddling pool next to it that got me!!!! Matthew and William sat there for a while watching the fish!
We have all been rough all week with coughs, and flu like symptoms fever etc. I have had a throat infection and an eye infection! Everything has been thrown at us this week!! But hopefully that is it, all out of the
Apartment
Williams room way! fingers crossed.
Lets see what next week brings.....
