The train to chiang mai was a few hours late and got in at 7.10 am, we walked to goodwill guest house (that is where i stayed last year) from the train station it was about 15 minutes. They were full until 11.00 when people would start checking out. We left our packs there and walk to the nearest coffee shop. After our 15 hour train ride, the coffe tasted good. We walked around a bit to kill time, we could have gone to another guest house , but i really liked the goodwilll. for 250 bht a night its a gem.
After settling in after check in we were motivated for a walk beyond the wall in to chiang mai city for lunch. By the way cost for our lunch is usually about 2 to 3 cdn$. if you add a beer maybe 4$. Our motivation did not last long, we returned home , pick up some food for a quick dinner and were both snooring by 9.00PM.
0ur friend from Vernon,BC and his Thai wife picked us up at 9.00 am and took us up to Wat Phrathat , Doi Suthep (for those who dont know Wat
means temple) This was the 1st wat for Sean, he found it interesting but wondered what all the different budhah's ment. We did find out there's 8 budha statues for each day of the week (2 for wednesday 1 for day 1 for night) but not sure about all of them .
We then went to the kings Palace ( summer residence ) although he has been is living in the hospital for the past year, it is rumored that he has been slowly poisened.
