Moon Cakes

I keep forgetting to add these photos of Mooncakes. Rich had gotten a fancy big box made up of a bunch of individually wrapped mooncakes from a student. He shared them with us because, well, honestly, moon cakes aren't all that yummy. LOL Of course, in the spirit of adventure and travel, I did eat a few mouthfuls here and there...but I must say, I have spit out most of those mouthfuls because mooncakes can taste hideous. They are beautiful to look at, but they are not so beautiful tasting in the mouth! LOL The best mooncake I had was at the restaurant celebration we had with the school staff, where we did the gambling and I won all the personal hygiene products...still wondering if there was a message there??? LOL At any rate, here are the photos. Mooncakes come in all sizes and there was quite a big one in Richard's package. Most are the size of a tart. I tried a chunk of that big one that Diane cut up for dessert and then very rudely had to leave the table at Rich and Diane's place to spit it out. Yuk. Mooncake has too many calories to eat if it tastes bad. No go. According to my lonely planet guide mooncakes are "stuffed with bean paste (WELL, that is a big part of the problem, I would say... lol) egg yolk, walnuts and more." I am bringing a couple back for Aiden and whoever else is brave enough to try one....how about you?

Just to show you the scale of this moon Cake I have shown my hand, too. It looks so delicious, like it might be a pecan tart, but trust me, it tastes NOTHING like that.
