Downgraded, but hopefully we'll get to sleep tonight!
Little tired today - I could NOT sleep last night. I skyped the girls around 4:30AM my time, right before their bedtime, which was nice because I got to say goodnight to them. I don't think I dozed off until 6AM. I woke up around 10AM. I really wanted to be up much earlier and go run in one of the London Park’s with Chris, but he let me sleep in. We'll try it tomorrow. The music in the lounge did finally die down around 11PM, but people kept moving furniture around until 5AM. It was like they were dragging a couch back and forth all night. This morning we asked to be moved and we are now on the 1st floor, definitely a down-graded room, but it’s cute, very shabby chic. As long as I get some sleep tonight, I don’t care where I sleep! We only have one night left here.
We met up with Bob and Rich for breakfast and then headed to St. Paul’s Cathedral. Only Chris and I did this tour. Probably the most beautiful building I’ve ever seen. You were not allowed to take any photographs, but I got my Iphone out and took as much as I could. We took the 227 stairs to the Whisper Gallery (a round stair case all the way up), where you could look down on the Cathedral. Amazing! Then we climbed another 119 stairs (a small, sometimes, steep round staircase) to the Stone Gallery, which took you outside to some amazing views of London. You could go up to the Gold Gallery, another 127 steps, of winding wrought iron, but we decided not to. We were a little queasy at this point.
Next we headed to the Tower of London. We walked instead of taking the subway, it rained the entire way, but we had umbrellas/raincoats. The walk along the Thames River was nice. We met up with Bob and Rich at the Tower of London. This was pretty cool, but we didn’t do the entire tour, we were all tired and ready to leave about 1 ½ hours into it. I did take pictures, so take a look at them.
There is a tube strike starting tonight at 5PM through Wednesday, so we wanted to get back to our area before the strike. We went to a small café with Bob and Rich and had afternoon tea (I had hot chocolate ), scones, finger sandwiches, fruitcake and piece of cake. It was yummy!! We are now back in our room relaxing. Heading out for a late, last night dinner in London.
Xoxo,
Kelly and Chris
