A few days ago Liam and I hopped onto a coach which took us from London to Paris. We were greeted by dawn and the strong smell of sewage. After laying in our tarp shelter with the spiders for a few hours we headed over to mcdonalds for the free wifi. We contacted Catherine and headed off to garde du nord to buy our euro rail passes, which are worth ten times their weight in gold. Next stop was garde du lest where we chatted to Catherine for a few minutes before she got on the train to Frankfurt. Liam and I had tickets now so we decided to go as well, only our train was four hours later. Deciding not to waste any time seeing sights we made purchase of some beer and went in search of a place to urinate. Finding a portable toilet took about 20 minutes and we decided to stay nearby, as we were about to drink beer. Liam took a nap and I kept watch and snapped some photos. When the time came we went to the corresponding platform and boarded our train. After a few transfers and one missed stop and a taxi ride we finally made it to Miltenberg, Catherine's home town.
The next day was spent walking around the forest and vineyards near her home and in the evening we all headed to the town center for Beer fest, which just so happened to start that day. We drank from 1 liter beer steins until the desired effect was achieved. Feeling good and looking great, we decided to head to a bar where we met Catherine's good friend Hanni, pronounced "honey". We stayed at the bar for a bit and then headed over to Hanni's house, where he immediately disappeared into the next room and emerged a good five minutes later carrying a plate of cold cut meats and cheeses with bread and butter. His hospitality was much appreciated and will not be forgotten. At about seven in the morning we decided to walk home because the taxi service was not running. It was a short walk considering how far I thought we had come.
The day after was spent similarly to the previous one and that was good. We left the day after that and now we are in Berlin. We arrived at 12 am to a deserted city, covered in fog and sheets of weak rain. Eventually we made it to baxpax hostel and stayed up till 6am playing cards.
This morning my internal clock woke me up 15 minutes before check out time and the end of breakfast. Climbing up the stairs into the lobby in my swimming shorts and combat boots felt just right. Liam and I decided to renew our stay and went and got some breakfast. At 13 euro a night, this place is a bargain. I honestly would feel bad if it was any cheaper. They have everything here! free showers, free tap water, a bomb shelter sleeping area, a bar, lots of ladies, and you are allowed to drink your own booze. One could live in hostels and keep doing odd jobs through the job agency.
