Stayed in Varanasi for a little while. Long enough to "celebrate" my birthday and Halloween plus a week or two.. The inner city is similar to many Indian cities in that it is god damn noisy and crowded. The parts of the city next to the river are way more bad ass in that there are little alleys everywhere and there is always somebody doing some crazy nonsense at any given point in the day. Or night. We stayed at a guest house which Gael had stayed in in recent years. The room I stayed in was pretty sweet. It came with a window. and a small bed side table. and a little court yard where I could hang my laundry or cut my hair. Which I failed at. I attempted to cut my hair without ... read more

I don't remember where exactly I left off on my last blog entry seeing as how it was a hopelessly long time ago that it was posted. I have now been to Shimla, Manali, Vashisht, Mcleodganj, Amritser, Rishikesh and Varanasi. As of now I am in Boudha, or Boudhanath, and have a clear view of one of the largest stupas in Nepal. I'm sitting in a place that has been named the Saturday cafe, and god knows for what reason. Anyhow, they are overpriced, have a 10% service charge and everything is organic. I feel right at home in this sickeningly new-age coffee/cake house. So at home that I want to burn it to the ground. But that is not important right now. What is important is that I tell you of my adventures thus far. ... read more

I landed in Delhi on the 21st of september. I was excited. The amount of people working in the streets was amazing. Children carrying bricks, their mothers also. Basically, Delhi was not ready to host the Commonwealth games and it showed. For two nights I stayed in a sweet hotel. The nicest one in India in fact, I was living vip. The internet there was fast too. Fast enough to download stuff. Unlike this internet cafe I'm in now. Lame lame. The day before I left I also decided to check out Old Delhi, because I was in the area. So I took the metro and it was awesome. Guards with AK-47s everywhere, well, they were above ground too carrying everything from revolvers, automatic handguns, sub machine guns, 12 gauge single barrel shot guns, etc.. Underground ... read more

After Berlin Liam and I headed to Amsterdam. Since we missed our train dude to a misunderstanding of what was the main train station in Berlin, we arrived in Amsterdam at around 10 am. We spent the night in the bicycle portion of the train which proved to be loads of fun. We met some scottish girls and I practiced my mandarin with a chinese woman. I was trying to explain what is a good bicycle to buy. I basically wrote out all of the main features she should have for a bike in the city. I got a bit carried away and she seemed quite overwhelmed by my advice. As we got off the train I took out my camera and started shooting from the hip, like a real pro. I forgot to check the ... read more

On our second day in Berlin we strolled over to Tacheles, the art commune of Berlin. As we entered we were greeted by large scale vandalism and a crane lowering empty beer bottles from the upper floors of the "building". To one side of the courtyard behind the building there stood massive metal sculptures, all produced on site in a metal working shed. It was quite a large shed to be fair. Liam and I strolled around and I snapped some shots of the area. As we left the metal working area I tipped a euro. We continued into the main courtyard area and then inside the building. We climbed the stairs as high as we could go and found a very talented artist's studio. I cant recall the name but he was fantastic. I already ... read more

A few days ago Liam and I hopped onto a coach which took us from London to Paris. We were greeted by dawn and the strong smell of sewage. After laying in our tarp shelter with the spiders for a few hours we headed over to mcdonalds for the free wifi. We contacted Catherine and headed off to garde du nord to buy our euro rail passes, which are worth ten times their weight in gold. Next stop was garde du lest where we chatted to Catherine for a few minutes before she got on the train to Frankfurt. Liam and I had tickets now so we decided to go as well, only our train was four hours later. Deciding not to waste any time seeing sights we made purchase of some beer and went in ... read more

Arriving in London from NYC brings a sickly taste to the back of the mouth. The womb from which the colonies fell. Parent and offspring rarely differ, especially in this case. Again, lots of bricks, good. Again, lots of posters advertising products which people have been convinced to buy, except much much larger. Even at subway stops they tower above like disgusting giants that stand motionless, blind to the destruction they cause. The first day in London was the last, all that had to be done was a visa application to India. Paying the fee, I was free to make way to Cambridge. The air here isn't brown. Upon arrival I was greeted by rain and I shook its hand with my face, glad to make its acquaintance. Rooting around in a faux 3-D map for ... read more

Blogging is so weak. I have been thinking about this more and more with each passing day, which has in turn delayed the posting of photos. Writing has never been my strong point and I fail to see how starting now will be a good idea, and on such a medium as the internet(soon to be regulated and thus dead). So. NYC. What did I notice first through my dazed and bleary gaze? Trash, Rubbish, Filth, Garbage, Waste, Discards, etc. Stacked in stagnant heaps outside nearly every dwelling. Resources everywhere, seen as Trash, looked upon as nothing more than the stage between the refuse bin and the landfill. I mentioned the swirling trash gyre twice the size of texas a few times in passing conversation and many people haven't even heard of it. I see people, ... read more
