Wow Wow Wow!!!
There is DEFINALTY a heaven on earth!!! And we've found it!!!
Imagine a place where nothing surrounds you but white sand, clear blue sea, stunning coral reef, lots of hammocks and 12 really cute wooden huts all positioned right on the beach...And there, you have Lazy Beach Resort!!!
After a 2 hour boat trip from Serendipity Beach in Sihanoukville, we arrived on the Island of Koh Rong Saloem (or Koh Rong Salami ... as Onie calls it), which would be our home for the next 8 nights!
On arrival after walking down the resorts rickaty jetty, we found ourselves standing in Lazy Beaches bar/restaurant sipping on a refreshing complimentry ice cold lime juice!
Due to our lengthley stay, the british owners had kindly given us hut number 3, which was in the best postion by FAR!!!
Whilst our stay in Sihanoukville, we had met a German couple called Elmar and Tina who had travelled to the island with us!
We enjoyed 4 days with them on the island, drinking too much beer and playing jenga non-stop!!! Between the 4 of us, we managed to beat the Lazy Beaches record of 31 blocks high!!! Believe me, it was NOT
easy!!!
On one of the of the days we enjoyed a 5km round swim with snorkle and fins, to the bay ajacent to ours! It took us 4 hours to get there and back, and Rik had to take 2 large bottles of water with him, both filled with rehydration salts. He had to strap them to his body, so everyone could drink to hydrate themselves when we got to the beach in the next bay.
The coral and sea life surrounding Koh Rong Saloem is particulary beautiful!
You can see everything from squid (cuttle fish), rays, needle nose fish and giant angel fish!!! Rik and Elmar even saw 4 white tipped reef sharks, all about a meter long!!!
Our friends unfortunatly had to leave to go home to Switzerland (guys if your reading this....we miss you)!!!
Overall, we have spent the last 8 days laying in hammocks, reading, eating lots and snorkling!
We have only been back on mainland (Sihanoukville) for a couple of hours....but we already miss Lazy Beach!!!
The British owners, and their mix of english and Kymer staff were super friendly! Not to mention their 2 stunning doggies, Spoon and Boysee!!! And the food was INCREDIBLE!!!
Rik fell in love with the Amok Kymer curry with chicken!!! Yum Yum!!!
With Chirstmas just around the corner, we're now really looking foward to getting to Cliff Cottage on Ko Chang, Thailand!!!
