The pictures in this blog are a motley bunch.

First, there’s Coco, one of two seamstresses in Moropoto. She took in four pairs of pants of mine, as even the pants I bought here are too big. Now they fit again! She charged me less than $0.50 for each pair. She also hemmed some fabric Lenin and I bought for a sheet, and she made a pillowcase, too. The green material with the suns and moons is now what my sheets and pillow case look like.

The next is of “aunt” Leo and her husband, Tono, the carpenter. Leo is the 1st/2nd grade teacher at the Moropoto School and Tono is a baseball player, farmer, and carpenter. He makes his own baseball bats, as well as shelves and doors and bed frames and he put on my roof.

The snake pictured is a venomous masacuate (sp?) that was curled up in the back room of the house. There has been an extraordinary amount of rain recently due to Hurricane Ida passing by the Atlantic coast. The snake was most likely looking for a dry roof. Ozman, Luisa’s husband and the owner of the house, macheted it to death. Venomous snakes and venomous Chagas beetles. Loooooooooove adobe houses. Actually, it’s more due to the fact that no one really guards this house or cooks here or makes a lot of ruckus.

The last two are of Lenin cooking in my room. After my birthday dinner, I realized I want to cook more of my own stuff sometimes. Quite some time ago I bought some dishes and a plastic container to keep food in, away from the cat and ants. And I finally just bought a two burner electric stove. Lenin and I have made French toast, fried egg and tomato sandwiches and these photos are of Lenin making fried lunchmeat and egg sandwiches.

Notice my tiny room. The table has always been in my room, but it didn’t always have the bottom shelf. It had a crappy paint job, too, and thus was covered by a sheet table cloth. So I took it to Tono and had him sand off the paint and put on a shelf.

Below my table are two buckets. The larger grey one in the back is for making fruit wine. The smaller turquoise one is filled with dog food. The blanket is the dog bed.

Yes, I have kind of adopted a puppy. But not really, because technically he’s Tono’s. But he and his sister live at Mamita’s, but all of her food slop goes to the pig, and thus the puppies, though loved, are skin and bones. Were. So I bought some cheap dog food and have been feeding them here. I put some poison on the boy for fleas and he sleeps in my room when I’m here, but at night they’re outside sleeping and guarding this house. The bigger boy’s name is simply Puppy and the girl is Huesita, or little bony. As she still looks like skin and bones. They’re mutts, but definitely have some Doberman in them.

Okay, I’m hungry. I want beans and cream.

more photos added of lenin and i picking kidney beans while they were just as done as a normal green bean

Have just....
Have just been looking at the above pictures. Again. For the nth time! Ha! Oh, little Puppy and Huesita do look cute.....BUT SOOOO skinny. Seriously, Honey, I've been eying some HUGE luggage for you guys to haul back with you! What, again, is the weight limit? Like, 40 lbs., right? 45? Plus a big ol' bag of dog food! I sometimes (ALWAYS) now feel guilty that we now own 4 dogs and manage to feed all of them. The wild Marigolds are beautiful. Can hardly believe that they smell just like ours. How good is that! The other picture of the wild local flowers.....could you possibly get a closer shot of them? They resemble flowers that I saw growing in a large keg up at condos on Dianna's route! OK. Another entry as I'm out of space! xo
