Boston Logan
Here we are starting our journey.... After a long journey spanning 3 flights, 24 hours of plane time, and two days, we finally reached Perth this afternoon. The Virgin America flight from Boston to Los Angeles was loads of fun after being upgraded. We were able to enjoy unlimited food, movies and wifi! This really made this leg of the journey go by real fast. If you checked out my FB page, I published a pic of this guy sleeping next to me, who everyone thought was Stephen!! It was random being able to facebook chat while flying across the US.
When we reached LAX, we were on a short lay over before boarding Virgin's Australia's newest 777 which has non-stop flights from LAX to Sydney in 14 hours. As we boarded I was a bit jealous seeing the First Class lay flat seats, but knowing we saved $14000 (hopefully a duty free Rolex) made me feel a bit better. Our premium economy seats were just perfect. They resembled business class seats and had enough leg and recline room. We were treated with a pre-flight drink (see Stephen sipping, but a minute later he spilled it all over him) and enjoyed all the amenities including the
bar, gourmet food, red flight entertainment movies and private space. I did peer back and check out the main cabin to see the common people, lots of bright colored fabric and screaming kids....it was like propofol (a vanishing memory), all I remembered was the curtain closing and then seeing them when we reached Sydney. Overnight, I headed to the bar an met Jodie, our wonderful flight attendant and we chatted a while. I learned we had a couple famous Australian actors on the plane (none whom I knew) and that there were 8 beds above the cabin for the crew to sleep and 2 beds in cock pit.Jodie also mentioned that Virgin Australia was going to start flights non-stop from LAX to Thailand and South Africa. We really recommend Virgin Australia, the plane was clean, bathrooms clean, everyone was friendly and it was the best deal (Premium Economy) for the price. A little, xanax doesn't hurt either for the 14 hour flight over the Pacific!
We arrived at Sydney and made it through cuustoms with no problem, we managed to bring Aimee's A1 sauce, David's tylenol PM and Jared's Honey Mustard pretzels! At the the Sydney domestic airport, we
Australia
First sight of Oz went to the Virgin Lounge and enjoyed all their services. We were able to shower, eat, watch movies in the cinema, make calls and get wifi! I was able to use the wifi and vonage to make long distance calls back home! After a 6 hour lay over, we boarded our plane to Perth. After 5 hours we finally reached Perth to be greeted by the A-Team!! Aly and Al looking fab as usual picked us up and brought us to the Sheraton Perth Hotel where we have a suite to re-energize for the next 2 days. Did I mention it was Gay pride tomorrow here in Perth??? Hopefully we will find it and have pics to post!
