The title of this blog is inspired by a divingcenters slogan.
In our last day of the first star course a photographer joined us in two dives. The picture he took are amazing!
The first dive that day was to the Satile:
- The Satil is a sunken navyshipwreck.
- The deck is on 18 metres depth and the bottom of the ship is at 24 metres.
- 18 metres was the furthest we went during our first star course. In the second star course we went to the Satil again only this time we swam at the bottom of the ship and we entered one of the mashinerooms.
- The Satil was beautiful, really breathtaking.
- The Satil was sunken 20 years ago for the purpose of a new diving site only.
- During our safety stop on the way up again we had an official corrination. Our instructors pulled out a knife and tapped our shoulders with it. We had passed the test, we were First Star Divers!
The second dive that day was to 'the caves of Eilat':
- This is only a 6 metres deep dive, but the area is covered with corals.
- The cave is not a cave, it's more like a space between two rocks. I uploaded a picture of it so take a look and you'll understand what I mean.
- We saw amazing fishes here! Also take a close look at the pictures.
We saw:
- the Nemo fish which lives in a very special kind of coral. The Coral is poissonous to everyone and everything except for the Nemo fish. The cutest thing ever would be if you could spot a baby Nemo in the corals, so adorable!
- the flutefish which is a very longue skinny fish.
- The blow-up fish which blows-up if he feels intimidated. Blowing himself up to three-four times his size is very stressful for the fish and most of them get a heartache and die when they do it. If he survives the blow-up he becomes very weak and vunerable.
- the blue-spotted coral ray (I don't really remember the full name, but it was something like this). I álways explain this fish as the-fish-that-killed-Steve-Irwin-only-the-smaller-and-more-colourful-one. Get it? Anyways the flat one that is on the ground with the pointy tail.
- the most important thing I discovered under water was
a hidden octopus! I was so happy when I spotted it. I thought first it was a stonefish, so I swam after the instructor and asked him to come and look (i asked him with the underwater diving language that we learned😊 ). When we came back to the rock I had seen it in I suddenly saw three tentikels. And that was the moment I realised that it was not a stonefish, but an octopus! So coooool!!
- The box fish which is a square fish, like a box😊
- The lionfish, apparently worth 10.000shekels, but also very poissonous to touch. It is a gorgeous fish to watch though, she moves slowely and has many featherlike things attached to her body.
We saw many, many, many kinds of fishes, but these ones were for me the most gorgeous and fascinating ones.
It truly is the best into the Red Sea since Moses.
